Castaway Cottage: Privacy, Views

NancyRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
The view was gorgeous. Karen met us in our Jeep and told us beforehand we had to rent a 4-wheel drive Jeep to be able to get to her place. The drive up and down is a little harrowing. So if you are not a person who values nature enough to put up with a somewhat dangerous drive to get there, this is not for you. But we loved the place. We never had to lock the place when we left. We never used the air conditioning. We left the windows open most all the time, the whole ten days, including at night when we were sleeping. The breeze was lovely. We got to talk to Karen before we got there and after we got onto the island for help info. Karen let us use her kayak, beach chairs and her cooler; nice! She is a lovely person! I loved the isolation; all the nature! We did have to walk up and down a series of rock/cement stairs to get from the Jeep to the cottage and visa versa; it was lit from dark to about 9:30pm. We are hardy walkers. Wished we had had a few more hangers; had 6.

One bedroom cottage on the water

NatalieRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We loved staying at the cottage; off the beaten track, very clean, had everything we needed, loved the availability of filtered drinking water, ceiling fans and AC, (which we rarely used as we preferred the windows open and the sound of the waves....). The bed was super comfortable. Ann Marie and David were wonderful hosts. She stayed in touch to respond to my questions in a timely fashion before and during the trip. They offered to meet us at Skinny Legs to help us find the place. We opted to find it on our own after studying the roads on Google Maps and following Ann Marie's instructions which included photos ..a little challenging but we did it. If you have any doubts, you might take them up on their offer! So much natural beauty here, highly recommended! Nice to have the hosts right there if you need anything but also had the privacy that we wanted. No neighbors nearby! Beautiful and peaceful place to stay; would stay there again.

Cute Caribbean Studio

MarthaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Maya's place was perfect for the two of us celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary! It was well stocked with anything we would need. The view from the patio was breathtaking and it was so quiet up on the mountain. Shannon our co-cost lived downstairs. She came and rescued us when we were having trouble finding the place. She sat with us and gave us information on all the best places to visit. The beaches were all beautiful. I would recommend you get into Coral Bay and follow directions to Skinny Legs, a wonderful restaurant down the street from the studio. DO NOT use google maps to get to the studio from the ferry! Also, bring plenty of cash if you plan on using a cab. It's $50 cash to get from the airport to Red Hook. All the cabbies only took cash. The roads are treacherous if you're not accustom to driving on curvy mountainous roads on the left side of the road! Be safe and enjoy your beautiful surroundings. We would definitely stay at Maya's place again!

Ocean Blue Cottage

EmilyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had a wonderful time at Peter and Ingrid’s Ocean Blue Cottage. The surrounding area is safe, quiet and peaceful and the views are gorgeous. We are very used to staying in small places and this particular one was set up very nicely and efficiently. We cooked many dinners in the kitchen and always had what we needed. The cottage is a short drive to all the great places on the island! We loved Salt Pond Bay, Denis Bay, and Waterlemon Cove the most. Love city market and midway market are close by and low traffic for groceries. starfish in Cruz bay had the most protein options. We loved eating at skinny legs for island vibes, strong drinks, and great burgers. It’s just down the hill from the cottage. We ventured into Cruz bay to try The Windmill bar. While the views were amazing…the drinks were weak and the food was not great in our opinion We traveled with our backpacking water filter and that helped us have filtered water to refill our water bottles before we left for the day!
