Caledonian, peaceful single room

SkylerRating, 5 stars3 days ago
A newly built cozy warm home in a peaceful location with beautiful surroundings. The insulation is great, the house stays warm, and there was a fan in the bedroom. The bedroom was the cleanest I have stayed in in New Zealand so far. There was no clutter in the bedroom, bathroom, or kitchen. The bathroom shower was very nice as it keeps the steam in. The driveway is large and easy to find and park in. Amy was very friendly, helpful, and communicative: she let me check in quite late and described much about the area. Ray invited me surfing, which was quite fun, and offered to let me use the mountain bike, although I did not take that offer. Tūī is a lovely quiet dog. There is a beautiful creek right behind the property. Short drives to many local rivers and hiking tracks from the house. 10 minutes to restaurants in Blackball, 30 minutes to supermarkets in Greymouth, 1 hour drives to Punakaiki and Hokitika, and 1:30 hours to Arthur's Pass.

Comfort on High

Roomy, clean, well-equipped kitchen. Also quiet and private. Great base for exploring up and down the West Coast (we intended to get to Arthur’s Pass as well but the weather did not cooperate).

After a long drive exploring parts of New Zealand, Rhonda's place was a welcoming abode. We enjoyed our stay! The house offered a wonderfully comfortable retreat in a peaceful, quiet neighborhood. Beach & Glow Worm Getaway

MicheleRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We were very happy to stay here. It was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. Because there were only two of us it was nice to have the use of both bathrooms. The 2 minute walk to the beach was so convenient to watch the sunsets. We did not dine out as we only had a short stay but we did have coffee in Cafe 39 which was one of only a few cafes open on Sundays. We loved the Hokitika Gorge walk which was surprisingly free to enter, but were not so impressed with the Tree Walk - it was disappointing after comparing it to the Redwood Tree Walk in Rotorua. The beach at Sunset Point was very interesting as people had made wonderful sculptures from driftwood. Overall we really enjoyed our time in Hokitika and were grateful for a comfortable place to rest our heads. We would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Arthur's Pass Ecolodge - unique off grid living

ClaireRating, 5 stars1 week ago
The location is simply stunning. Helen was super friendly and made us feel really welcome. The bedroom had a huge window looking across to the mountains. We saw the Milky Way from the deck. I was nervous about the toilet, but it was nothing to worry about! Helen allowed us to use her kitchen to cook dinner, which was really convenient. Thank you Helen, we loved your place.

Hokitika Scenic Room

ShirleyRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Just when I thought our Airbnb experiences could not be beaten there was Colleen and Trevor. They made us feel like family whilst still retaining discreet sensitivity to our privacy. Nothing was too much effort. Home baked goodies too! Beautiful Lilly the dog has been well trained to offer you as much or as little attention as you would like. We could not rate this stay more highly and hope to meet up with Colleen and Trevor again one day.

Sunrise Room

PeterRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had the good fortune of staying with Colleen and Trevor in their lovely home situated high on a hill overlooking the Tasman Sea and the Alps. When we drove up we first spotted lush and colourful gardens, truly a labour of love. Upon arriving Colleen and Trevor were both there along with their precious dog Lilly to greet us, We were shown our room which had floor to ceiling french doors, our own patio overlooking the front yard, and the views as described. Down the hall was a lounge dedicated to house guests which was attached to a lovely dining area equipped with everything we needed to prepare ourselves a continental breakfast. Both rooms again had windows overlooking the fabulous views. In the lounge area, Colleen had brochures and was happy to answer our questions on what was available in the area. Stay with Colleen and Trevor they are warm and hospitable hosts. Our stay with these warm and hospitable hosts has been the highlight of our 6 week trip.

Karen and Nigel are very fine people. She cooked a great meal. They managed an unforeseen medical event with complete professionalism and care. I have nothing but good things to say about them, and how well they operate their business.

Little Paradise & Petting Farm, FREE Breakfast

JomeshRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Our stay at this charming farmhouse was a memorable experience! The property is set in a peaceful location, perfect for animal lovers. We had a great time meeting all the friendly animals, including guinea pigs, a horse, a pig, goats, sheep, lovebirds, and chickens. The kids absolutely loved feeding and interacting with them, and it was a joy to watch them learn about farm life. The farmhouse itself was cozy and well-maintained, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kids' play area was a huge hit, offering plenty of space for them to run around and have fun. Would definitely recommend this place for families looking for a unique and enjoyable getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay at Carol & Dean’s place. It was comfortable, peaceful, and in a great location—close to all the activities we had planned. The surroundings were quiet, making it perfect for a relaxing stay. We also appreciated the lovely conversation with both of them. Highly recommend!
