Barn vacation rentals in New Zealand

We had an excellent stay with no issues. Debbie and Peter were great hosts - we were out at the motor racing during the day and we came back to a laid fire ready to go. Very easy communication and such a hassle free place to stay for a large group. Ideal for a large group of people if you want to just stay a bit out of the main Rotorua and Taupo destinations - close enough to go for dinner, relaxing and quiet otherwise. Would definitely look at staying again for future events in Taupo and Rotorua.

Loved the quirkiness of the converted cowshed. Comfortable kitchen/lounge area, well equipped. No problem with 2 adults staying, needing to go out in weatherproof area to go to bathroom/kitchen. Insect screens on doors very helpful. Sue was great to chat with. Wonderful being able to get coffee and fresh fruit icecreams on site. Blueberries are magnificent.

Lorraine and Peitrus were amazing hosts, they went over and above, extremely hospitable people. We will definitely look to visit again.

Fantastically interesting place in gorgeous rural setting. Loved the quirky interior of surfing and computer game memorabilia. The accommodation is very spacious, neat and tidy. You’ll love it!

Had a fantastic time at this beautiful converted barn in the middle of Marlborough vineyards. Angela was great, I did rather bombard her with questions prior to the trip, and she answered all of them. When we arrived she warmly greeted us and introduced us to the place. The location is gorgeous, surrounded by vines, along with some chickens. The property has be very nicely converted. Everything was spotless and working. We were staying as a couple so just used the upstairs room and the downstairs bathroom. We spent quite a bit of time enjoying the outside areas, especially the hammock. And got to meet the resident dog and at least one of the cats. Renwick, the nearest town isn’t really walkable. But we had some great lunches at local vineyards and then just self catered a light dinner. A local bike hire company were happy to pick up/drop off so we could cycle round the many local vineyards This was a little above what we normally pay for an Airbnb but was money well spent.

If you want a truly peaceful, rejuvenating escape in a beautiful serene location - highly recommend Susans place. Its rustuc, kitchy, full of personality and a great respite from city life. Susan is accomodating, friendly and lets you enjoy the pond and scenery in peace. Added bonus was no cell service at the Barn so we could switch off from the world - however Wifi at Susans house was accessible whenever we wanted (which wasnt that often) and we loved being off the grid for our 3 days. Thank you Susan and Sasha it was such a delight! x

The location of this was excellent - well placed for visiting vineyards and local walks of the Wairau River. The accommodation was spotless and well maintained. It had everything we needed. The host, Andrew, was very welcoming and helpful. They supplied essentials - tea , coffee, bread, cereal and freshly laid eggs and fresh fruit - the plums were delicious! The gardens were beautiful and was a lovely place to relax ( and drink the odd glass of wine ) We were a group of 4 (two couples) this location was perfect - Highly recommended.

Anna & Brian are the LOVELIEST HOST! And their place is the BEST Airbnb. The attention to detail and care for their guest is simply amazing. I will keep it short. But the world needs more people like you guys! Thank you. ☺️

Dee was the most amazing host! We stayed with her during a sad occasion for my family. She was so accomodating and went out of her way to make sure we were looked after. She was understanding when we had extra family members (including our dogs) which meant a lot. Thank you Dee for your manaakitanga! Forever grateful.

This was a great little getaway in a beautiful area. Had a nice walk down by the stream and gave the kunekunes a good scratch. The barn was nice and tidy and we enjoyed using the braizer at night and toasting marshmallows.

Trish’s place exceeded our expectations, it was the most equipped Airbnb that we’ve ever stayed in, the attention to detail was extraordinary; was stocked with the most delicious homemade sourdough bread, jams and biscuits; local full cream milk; has a pantry supplied with oil and vinegar etc; coffee, a very good range of teas, and even 3 teapots, for tea drinkers this was a delight. Beautifully designed spaces, it felt really cosy, homely and welcoming - we could have settled in for quite sometime. There are lots of desirable places to sit and enjoy the spaces - inside and out. Thanks Trish and Al for sharing this lovely ‘old cowshed’ with us. We’ll be back very soon.

This place is a great option for a family if you’re looking for something peaceful and a little off the beaten path. Great access to stores if you need them and lots of fun stuff to do for the little ones.

Super friendly hosts and was the perfect place for us to stay for a weekend getaway. Close to the farmers market and beaches. We also enjoyed the game room after a day out in the sun. Plenty of options for dinner just down the road and lots of space for a family of 7!

Perhaps would've been nice to meet the host(s) before checkout day, but not a problem... Pleased Finn helped with the bike rack issue.

We had a superb one night stay with Sally and Murray on our way to the Banks Peninsula. They were flexible, helpful and very welcoming. We enjoyed chatting to them, the breakfast was delicious and the garden was a tranquil haven. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Great place to stay, especially for larger groups. Kids had an absolute ball. Lovely set away location, very safe and peaceful. Would definitely stay again and would definitely recommend to other uses

Such a wonderful stay. Only negative is that we couldn’t stay longer! If you’re looking for a home stay away from home, this is your place! We felt like we had checked into an old friend’s place. It’s a lovely home on a gorgeous setting. It ended up raining but Jen was so clever and gave us some alternative ideas which were amazingly fun (and we would never have found them if it hadn’t been for her suggestion). This is a hidden gem for sure!!

The home is spacious but you do not feel disconnected. Beautiful surroundings and well equipt kitchen. The indoor outdoor flow gave as an additional seating area for dinners etc. Fabulous facilities could not think of anything else that would be needed there. Would highly recommend The Red Barn.

Awesome place to stay. Couldn't recommend more. Beautiful, quiet location. House had heaps of character and was fitting out with anything and everything you'd need. There's not a lot nearby other than a few dine-in food places, but that didn't bother us at all.

We had another fantastic stay at this accommodation and we look forward to our next stay in the near future.
