Ryokan vacation rentals in Japan

We had a great time at Kitano's place. The accommodation has a refined traditional interior and has the utmost comfort. We also appreciated the proximity to the buses that allowed us to reach the tourist spots of Kyoto. The neighborhood is residential and pleasant. Shops are nearby.

This house is located in a fantastic location, only a 6 min walk from the nearest station. Shiho, the host, was very accommodating. She greeted us as we arrived and gave a house tour. She also asked how we were going and made sure everyone was okay, something that is rarely done for Airbnb hosts. Everything in the house was clean and organised, the beds and futons were comfortable, and overall we had a great time staying at this place.

The place was greasy to stay in. Everything we needed was provided. Instructions were clear. The stairs were tricky to navigate. Maya’s communication was great and she was lovely to communicate with.

We loved our stay in this Airbnb! So perfectly located in the center of all we wanted to see. Walkable distance to many things or cheap taxi ride. The wash room was so cute! We just loved the wallpaper and that it had a nice shower and bath. Every night I walked to the local onsen alone late at night and felt totally safe. Restaurants close by were delicious. I highly recommend the ramen shop on the same street. The sleeping mats were very comfortable and the home quite warm and shower as well. We really appreciated the guide books which we used to find the best spots for cherry blossoms. Thank you so much for easy instructions and a comfortable stay! We would love to return again.

The host communicated well and helped us find the place when we got lost. It is very close to Kyoto station. It is also very clean.

We really enjoyed our stay with Miwa. Her son was responsive to messages, especially useful when we organised to have our bags forwarded and to change our plans slightly due to bad weather. When we arrived, Miwa gave us a warm welcome and took us on a a tour of the place. It was spotless clean and has a nice warm shower. As described, it is a traditional home, so perfect if you want to experience sleeping on a futon atop tatami mats. We visited the area to walk the Nakasendo Trail but on this particular day the weather was very wet and so we decided to rest for the day instead. The village on a Sunday is very quiet and many of the restaurants shut up shop early. Given the situation, Miwa took pity on us and brought us some lovely baked goods. We were made to feel very welcome and would recommend a stay here for anyone visiting the area.

This is a beautiful old house in the best area of Kyoto. Beds and pillows were comfortable. I will come again if im in the area.

We stayed in a ryokan - it's very different to a traditional hotel and was exactly what we envisaged it to be - it was well located for the local buses and a 7 minute walk to the subway with one stop to Kyoto station - very friendly host and all facilities covered in an A4 binder in English for those not fluent in Japanese - as a bonus the wifi was usefully powerful - would go again if our travels took us this way in the future.

Such a really nice place ! The house was super clean, beautiful, the futons were more than comfortable and you can even enjoy watching movies with the video projector. The bbq and the lights were also a plus. It’s not common to find an airbnb with this quality so I can only recommend.

This was a great location for our stay in Kyoto and we appreciated the machiya style apartment and quiet neighborhood. Koji provided great instructions and was responsive to our questions prior to arrival. Check in/out was easy and seamless. Thanks again for the wonderful stay!

Yuri and Hori’s guest house offers an authentic experience in Kyoto. The house truly gives you the feeling of living in a quaint home inside of the city. Situated near a large train station (5min walk), the location is great. As far as communication goes, Yuri and Hori are proactive, kind, and welcoming hosts. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here!

It is a very spacious house, "I want to stay in Totoro!"The children were also delighted to play! We would like to stay there again (^ ^)

Matuda’s place was a perfect japanese royokan. It was a pretty and quaint Airbnb right in the heart of Kyoto. The place had everything that we could think of and more. It was a completely different experience for us to stay at a traditional japanese house and we thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. The place is very centrally located and is close to all the important places in Kyoto. Matuda was very responsive throughout and helped us with every big or small thing. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay.

this place is exactly how Yuya describes it. Extremely authentic. Amazing traditional house. Lovely friendly hosts. Very accommodating when we got lost in Koyoto station and were an hour late! We really felt welcomed and like we had stepped back in time. You feel instantly relaxed.

Our stay at Taiji’s was fabulous. The beautiful large Japanese room, the hospitality, the great view and Taiji is so creative with his food. It was such good value. We loved him and his lovely mother who helped out with the food. Must mention the onsen with it’s rustic charm and view

It’s a very cosy and unique house tucked in the midst of an interesting town. Everything from the beds and tatami to the fully self contained kitchen is perfect. And the stroll around the house in the morning was extremely therapeutic. Kerry is also easy to communicate with. I would definitely recommend his place without doubt.

What a beautiful traditional Japanese home to stay We totally loved the old house, beautiful decorations, the inner courtyard and our room. Everything was perfect! Chieri is a great host, we felt very welcomed and home right away. We were on a road trip, so we also enjoyed that we could wash our clothes. And we tried out the traditional japanese bath. Perfect!
