Beach house vacation rentals in Island of Hawai'i

This Oceanfront Beach House had a bit of magic. Crashing waves on the Cliff. Spacious living room and master bedroom and cute rooms for the kids. The pool was fun and looking at the stars and the moon rise from the hot tub was dreamy. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare breakfast and dinner with a great bar top wrapping around the expansive kitchen space. Nice counters and plenty of room for everyone. Every day we would walk out the back yard onto the lava rock cliffs to enjoy the view of the pounding surf below. We made it out to Pohoiki Beach park to dip into the hot springs and made our way around Hilo to find great eateries and outdoor adventures. We loved the Buddha Hindu vide of the house and yard decor. Comfortable beds and the sound of crashing waves while we slept.

We chose this property because of the close proximity to the ocean. There is no beach but you can definitely hear the waves crashing and it was very tropical. Besides the house next door, it is very private. Plenty of kitchen appliances, plateware, and silverware. The neighbors were friendly, including their dog. Overall, we had a great stay would definitely recommend this house if you are looking for peaceful, quiet time on the island.

Robert and Erin were great hosts and communicators. The house is located across a beautiful park/beach. Even though the park was busy it didn’t fell intrusive at all, we loved having our coffee on the front porch in the mornings and unwinding in it at night. We have young boys who loved all the chickens and lizards in the yard, and seeing the sea turtles across the street. Overall the house is in great shape and met our expectations!

We had the dream family trip of a lifetime. The kids loved the pool—morning, noon and evening except when we went off on adventures. The neighborhood was quiet and within walking distance of a rocky beach. The house was roomy and well stocked with two large, long dining tables, one indoors and the other on an enclosed porch outdoors. Perfect for family dining. Joe and Anna were lovely hosts, pleasant and informative. We’d definitely recommend this home to anyone.

First of all, the area was amazing!! Manini beach was literally a 2-3 minute walk down the road for great snorkeling (gear is provided, if you need it) with a path for some amazing sunsets. There are a couple of fruit stands in the neighborhood, which was great for my mother’s daily banana stroll. You can see the bay from the amazing lanai that we spent so much time on to watch the snorkelers, kayakers and dolphins. The house itself was great! Split into half, with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on either side, separated by an open concept living room and kitchen. The dining room is outside…where else would you want to sit down and eat? There were A/Cs in the bedrooms if you needed them, but the ocean breeze was usually enough for most of my party. There were lots of spices in the cabinets for cooking and some staples leftover from past renters. The long, winding and narrow roads make some great scenery, but also make your trip to anywhere else a bit long. I would definitely stay again.

Shiva's cottage was absolutely wonderful. We loved everything about it...the deck that practically overhangs the ocean, the house layout, the design-we especially adored the kitchen floor-the whole house was beautifully decorated, with thoughtful touches throughout. Shiva was a pleasure to work with-very welcoming and great communication. The area is quiet and peaceful, which is just what we were looking for, after a busy week in Kona. Thank you Shiva for an amazing stay-we can't wait to come back!

This home is in a paradise location. We snorkeled everyday at Kahalu’u Beach Park across the road (we rented gear at Snorkel Bobs down the street.) The out side space/lanai and full sliding doors in the living room were wonderful to enjoy the ocean view. Sleeping space with our group was tricky. The house sleeps 4 couples. We 3 couples and had 3 grown boys. 1 got the extra queen bed. Additional sleeping space (trundle and roll away) was tricky and not comfortable for adult sizes. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. The bbq was great to have and clean. There were e-bikes close by. Grocery, shops and many restaurants and beaches within a few minutes.

Incredible stay and adorable house! Beds were comfy and we had spinner dolphins greet us each morning!

Had an amazing stay at Lee and Courtney's place. The house was incredible and had everything that my family of five needed (to even include tons of beach/snorkeling gear and beach towels). The house is very convenient to many great beaches and activities on the Kona side of the island. We really enjoyed the lanai and all the amazing outdoor space to include the pool and hot tub. We would definitely stay at this house again if we come back to the Big Island.

Chelsea was out of town yet was immediately responsive to messages dealing with a couple of minor glitches; it helped that the owner lives nearby. Place overall was great. Lack of air conditioning (it was not hot, but the upstairs did warm up in the April afternoons) was offset by the private pool, a better way to cool off than by refrigerating the house. Nice layout for two couples, one upstairs with the larger bedroom and large en suite bath, the other downstairs with two smaller bedrooms and a bath, so we each had good private space. Only drawback was the downstairs rooms seemed a bit enclosed, although all had windows. Nice large lanai and the landscaping around the pool made it feel especially private. Be sure to investigate the pantry and shelves before shopping...the place was very well supplied when we arrived. We would definitely stay again if we're in Kona!

We had such a wonderful stay at the house in Keaau and Michelle and Joe were amazing hosts. The house was spacious, clean, and comfortable with a beautiful outdoor porch and incredible lush grounds. We absolutely loved staying at the house it was hard to leave. Michelle and Joe are incredible hosts. They opened fresh coconuts for us, gave local recommendations to beautiful beaches and other things to do on the island. Every day was like coming home with adorable geckos outside and the beautiful sounds of the frogs at night. My only wish is that we stayed even longer! Thank you so much Michelle and Joe! Mahalo!

Susan's place in Kea'au is beautiful, convenient to Hilo and Volcano National Park, yet right on the ocean. Surrounded by the sights, sounds and smells of the ocean make this a great place to get away from the city.

Our group absolutely loved our stay. The host was extremely responsive and the pictures don't even do the place justice. We loved the view and relaxing by the pool until it was time to hit the beach. The location is ideal; it is not too far from Kona (8 minute drive) but you feel like you're in a jungle oasis.

We loved staying here. The property was spectacular -- we really enjoyed walking along the cliffs looking over the ocean, and we spent hours in the pool. The pool was the perfect temperature. The beds were comfortable, the home is spacious, and we enjoyed sitting out on the lanai in the mornings and evenings. The neighborhood was also great for walking/running. We'd love to stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone, especially if you're traveling with kids.

I recently stayed at Justin’s Airbnb in Kona, and it was an amazing experience. From the moment we arrived, Justin was incredibly welcoming, offering great recommendations for local activities and making sure we had everything we needed. The house itself was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, creating a perfect island retreat. One of the highlights was the pool – it was pristine and provided the perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring the island. The outdoor area was fantastic, with plenty of seating, and we enjoyed several evenings watching the sunset from the lanai. The location in Kona was ideal, with easy access to beaches, dining, and shopping, yet the house felt like a private oasis. We felt truly at home during our stay and couldn’t have asked for a better place to unwind. I highly recommend Justin’s place for anyone looking to experience the best of Kona in comfort and style!

Great fit for our laid back group, a serene slice of heaven in Puna Palisades neighborhood. Karan communicated routinely with helpful information for outside visitors. Renters should be aware that check in process is different than AirBnB messages -- there is no code emailed, rather check in direct with owners. All good :-)

What a great place! Very easy to get to, spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. Gabriel is a gracious host who really wants to ensure his guests make the MOST of their stay in the Puna district. His recs are spot on, and the home is a great home base for a couple or family (or a group of girls!) exploring the area. The garage is a welcome feature - we all know it rains a lot on the east side of the island but not needing to dodge raindrops while bringing in luggage or groceries or returning after a long day of exploring is really ono. We enjoyed nights on the lanai, breakfast too. A short walk to the cliffs (and one more block over to see a cool sea arch) to see Kanaloa battle Pele each morning is a mana-filled way to start each day. Mahalo nui loa! Until next time…

This stay way absolutely wonderful. Such a beautiful and peaceful location. We really enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and fell asleep nightly to the soothing jungle sounds. The host was extremely accommodating and made sure everything was perfect for our stay. This has been my favorite Airbnb stay by far! I will definitely be staying here again if I ever make it back to the islands !

I booked this house under a different host but it sold before our trip. I was a little hesitant to cancel/rebook but everything was great. Both the previous host and the new host reached out several times to help move the booking over. Doug reached out to let me know he was changing the bed types in one of the rooms to make sure it was okay. Great communication. We had no issues during our stay. The house & view was beautiful. Very quite and peaceful. Very well stocked house. Our only complaint would be that there was no TV in the master bedroom (but one of the other rooms did have one). It was not an issue for me but my husband falls asleep better to the noise of a TV. If we ever return to the Big Island and rent a house, we will stay again.

This was our first time as a family of 4 on the Big Island, and this bungalow truly felt like a home away from home. It was clean, comfortable, and ideally located—just a short distance from Ali'i Drive, which made it easy to explore beaches, shops, and restaurants in both directions. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay!

This spot is perfect for a couples getaway to the country side of Hawaii! It was a beautiful stay and the hosts were super friendly and responded to me so quickly when I had questions. Loved it so much wish I didn’t have to leave!!

It is so delightful when ones expectations which are already high are completely surpassed. We enjoyed our stay so much at Christine‘s place. We were a big family and we loved the many different decks to relax and enjoy the beautiful view as well as the large kitchen and living room to gather and eat, laugh, play games and chat. Everything we could possibly need was provided. We really appreciated the cooler, boogie boards, and snorkeling gear, too. And oh that hammock !! If we come back to Kona, I would absolutely love to stay at Christine’s place again. Highly recommend! PS The driveway is super steep but it was all a part of the adventure! PPS We saw whales from the deck.

This house is a delight! From the beautiful decor to the view of the ocean, the sound of the waves and the perfect location. Can’t wait to come back! Yes please!
