We had a lovely stay, the cottage was in an ideal spot and easy to get to the A1 to see different parts of Northumberland.

Our stay was absolutely perfect. Paul & Debbie are amazing hosts who are willing to help with anything we asked. Although just a short drive from Newcastle, we felt as though we were in the middle of nowhere surrounded by beautiful countryside. The cottage is gorgeous and extremely comfortable with everything you need including the most amazing private hottub. But the most amazing experience is with the alpacas who you can see from the cottage, have the opportunity to feed them and even take them for a walk which was just incredible. We were sorry to have to leave but will most definitely be returning! Thank you Paul & Debbie 😀

What a beautiful cottage, spotless and so cosy We needed to ask a question and Esther was so lovely and helpful. She is held in very high regard within the village by everyone we met. Lovely hot tube which we can guarantee is emptied after each guest. Beautiful walk to river, straight out the gate. Beautiful places to visit within 30 mins Would highly recommend

Just had a fantastic stay at Ivy cottage. Jane was a brilliant host with plenty of info on arrival. The cottage is so comfy and cosy. Added bonus having the games room, will 100% be back. Thanks Jane.

Four of us have just spent 3 nights in Peewit Cottage. From the moment we arrived, we all felt right at home, the place was spotless, beds very comfortable too! Everything you could possibly need for a self catering stay was provided. Having the private hot tub was fabulous, we loved it after full days of being tourists in the local area. On a separate note, we would highly recommend a visit to Beamish Museum which was about a 30 min drive, we also spent a day in Durham City & booked a 2.5 hr History/City Tour with walkaboutdurham - highly recommended. Tour Guide Peter is very knowledgeable & so passionate about his job plus he gives everyone a "free" cocktail voucher for Turtle Bay - well deserved after 2.5hrs walking around the City 🤣🤣

Regular visitors to Mark’s property and we are yet again impressed with our stay. It has become a home from home on our trips to the north.

Enjoyed a few days away over New Year with the family and had a thoroughly good time even if the weather was abysmal. The cottage is remote from the local village, which is exactly what we liked. The views over the hills were amazing, and my 2 year old loved being surrounded by sheep in neighbouring fields. The house was spotless, and had everything you could need. The log burner was used every night, and Gareth even left the first batch of logs and coal (we took more as we knew we would be using it.). Gareth is a brilliant host, good communication, friendly and very helpful when we had a slight issue with the internet (although it was world ending for my 12 year old). Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants to get away to a beautiful part of the country.

We love this property, it’s our second stay now. Just right for accessing Sunderland and minutes from the seafront. We shall be visiting again.

The cottage was perfect. The kitchen had everything you need, lovely cooking wear and home from home utensils. The log fire (courtesy logs) was beautiful. Really cosy and the bed was extremely comfortable with plush bedding. I have read other reviews and I can honestly say the location was extremely quiet. Yes it’s on a residential street but it was peaceful and both my friend and myself could park our cars right outside. My 6 month old puppy loved it and was well behaved given her new surroundings. Thank you Doreen for your recommendations of dog friendly pubs and excellent communication.

Lovely cottage , perfect for walks . easy to find. loved the decor, open fire essential in the winter. friendly horse knocking on the kitchen window in the morning is an extra treat. everything you need for an amazing time.

We stayed here to be close to family for Christmas. We are 5 adults and a dog and felt very comfortable with everything we needed. The cottage was decorated for Christmas and with a lovely welcome pack it was a treat to arrive. The information to get in was very thorough and easy to follow. Thoroughly recommended.

Our stay was brilliant lovely friendly host was very helpful he even put the heating on to warm the cottage up ..nice lovely accommodation it was full presented as listed the bedroom as beautiful and comfortable the kitchen had everything you needed ..even had milk so we had a cup of tea the bathroom was upto date and smell beautiful not a spot on it ..shame we never booked longer I would recommend this place to anyone..

What can I say... Absolutely fantastic place. You couldn't ask for anything more. Really peaceful location with fantastic views of the hills etc. We had a strange issue but this was sorted out very swiftly by Malcolm 👍 We will definitely be looking to book again and have another peaceful time just watching the world go by. Abbey Hill Cottages to high above W. Hartlepool. They are well equipped.Beds are comfortable and so is sitting room furniture. Plenty of hot water. Good shower.Lots of space. I would stay again.

Had such a relaxing stay, thank you Clare. The cottage has everything you would need to hide yourself away nestled in the tranquil surroundings. It’s a remedy to the crazy world we live in. With the added bonus of no TV and no wifi, making it extra relaxing to switch off from work and normal routine.

We had the most wonderful stay at Anne’s Airbnb. Really clear instructions on how to get there. We had milk in the fridge and pastries on arrival. Such a warm welcome. Anne was very quick to respond to any questions we had, and we really felt ‘at home’ during our stay. We are a family of 4 (2 teenagers in the mix) and our dog.. who loved having the garden to run around in. The views from the kitchen window were exceptionally good. And loved watching the sun rise! Will definitely go back.

We had a great few days here, it is a lovely, well equipped, bright cottage very well located for walking in the beautiful area. Jenna was friendly, very responsive and helpful.

This really is a very special place to stay. The location is perfect, right by the sea and a few minutes walk from restaurants and shops. It's very easy to get into Newcastle from here as well. There's a lovely walk along the Tyne to the North Shields Fish Quay, it looks beautiful at night. Parking is easy and very convenient, right outside the cottage. Deborah is a fantastic host who goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. We will certainly be back and I am recommending the place to my friends and family.

We (2 adults + 2 children) stayed at High Pastures cottage from 14 Nov - 21 Dec 2024 whilst waiting for our onward house purchase to complete. From the outset Peter was responsive and flexible with our changing itinerary which was much appreciated. The cottage was exactly what we needed - the kitchen has all the modern accessories you'd expect and the living room was spacious and always warm despite being in rural surroundings over the winter. The views from the cottage are breath taking and there are some great walks from the cottage right into the middle of beautiful countryside. Within a couple of minutes drive there are great pubs and restaurants. 20 mins drive east you have Newcastle and 20 mins drive west you have Hexham. We were able to continuing living our lives as normal (my wife and I commuting to work - Newcastle and Sunderland) and the children continuing at their schools. We're hugely grateful to Peter and his wife for making this possible for us. Thank you!

Perfect house and location. Very comfortable extremely well equipped. We know the area well as my late husband’s family are from Hexham. However it is the first time we have been away for Christmas since he died and it was perfect so peaceful. Seeing a light pollution free sky and all the twinkling stars was a delight. Very spacious house perfect for what we needed. Very comfy beds! Thank you to Georgina and her family.

We absolutely loved staying at Chris's place. It is a perfect size for us and beautifully decorated and very tasteful! It felt like home from home which was great as we spent Christmas there. The bed was very comfy too. We immediately booked for the following year. Chris was easy to get hold of. The area is great for dog walking. A perfect stay.
