Cottage vacation rentals in York County

Gorgeous view out the back over the York River. We went crabbing from the dock and had multiple bonfires after watching the most beautiful sunsets from the back yard. Fantastic outdoor amenities including a cook shack, outdoor refrigerator, multiple dining tables, and hot tub. Landscaping was immaculate. Located on a quiet road with absolutely no light pollution so the star gazing at night is flawless! Only a few cons that I would make guests aware of. First, is that it is a very rural location with few dining/entertainment options nearby. It's a good 25min to Yorktown, 40min to Williamsburg, and 50+ mins to Hampton. You could spend your entire vacation in the backyard or fishing from the dock and probably not be disappointed, but be aware that you will have a long drive to dining/entertainment. The second was that it wasn't the most kid's friendly. There are no bath tubs, only showers, no bunk/kid beds, and no toys for young kids. If those don't bother you, then you'll love it!

We loved our stay at the "bay house" as we called it. It was beautiful and thoughtfully restored, with lots of gear for enjoying the water and outdoors, which we appreciated even though we were staying in January. The heating system throughout the house kept us comfortable even though it was cold and windy during our trip. We used the hot tub in the side addition the first night and loved it. The timing of our trip worked out perfectly during a water outage in Richmond, where we live, and Richard allowed our trip to be extended an extra night. The setting of the house was beautiful in the snow, and was a lovely space to walk around and explore with a pup when the cabin fever set in. Richard was incredibly responsive anytime I reached out with a question. We all talked about wanting to return in the summer! Would definitely recommend to anyone!

From the moment you walk through the door the view welcomes you and says “relax”. Jennifer went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Drinks and snacks, local recipe to make during our stay and plenty to do without ever leaving the property. You basically just need to bring your clothes. She’s got everything else covered! We will definitely be back to enjoy warmer weather activities, but coming to visit in the fall, I highly recommend if you’re in need of some down time with the fam!!

Great stay and hosts! Went out of their way to make the stay welcome, including even shoveling the house out when we had snow. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

To say this house was a dream come true would be an understatement. From the moment we drove up the long driveway and laid eyes on the picturesque setting of the red house nestled in the woods, we fell in love. My 17-year old daughter walked in and said the pictures online did it no justice and she is exactly right. The house was immaculate, with every feature you could possibly imagine. The technology throughout was unbelievable. Google Home in EVERY room. TVs with surround sound. A game room that kept us busy for hours. A karaoke machine. It was a much needed getaway. Our dogs were in heaven with the acres of land to explore on walks. I have never felt so relaxed. I just can’t say enough. I love the city of Cape Charles but honestly did not want to leave this house. The host, Dave, was so great with communicating, even before we arrived. We will definitely plan another visit here! I would say the only downside was getting carpel tunnel trying to beat high scores in the arcade room. ?

My wife and I absolutely loved the cottage at Locklies Innlet. The combination of the beautiful water views and the cozy fireplace was exactly what we were looking for. The kitchen was well stocked for us to make our breakfasts every morning, and there was a terrific restaurant in walking distance. The cottage was very clean and welcoming. We felt right at home as soon as we walked in. Cornelia was extremely friendly and responsive. We will definitely be back!

I love Donna’s place so much . She is the best host, always available and a really kind person. Will always stay at her place while visiting my daughter and my new grandbaby ( until I buy a place so I can be near my grandbaby lol)

What a beautiful place to stay. I loved the peace and quiet of this rural cottage.. you open the back door and feel your nestled within the woods. As soon as I walked in I felt at home - The cottage was spotless and the decor with all its warming and welcoming messages made me smile. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage if you love the quiet life and the sense of community..The people at Nuttalls (the local country store just down the road) were so friendly and welcoming. Such a great location - just a short walk from the beach. Front porch is a great place in the mornings and evenings. The dining room and living room fit our group well and we squeezed in the bedrooms (4 couples + 6 kids all 3 and under) but it was perfect since we spent most time outside anyways! Adam was super helpful and quick to respond when we needed a few items. Would definitely visit again!

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for Valentines' Day weekend and loved it! The kitchen was incredibly well stocked, several amenities were supplied, and overall it had a wonderfully homey feel to it. The location was perfect and felt like we were within a reasonable distance between a lot of things while still having peaceful privacy. Would definitely recommend!

I loved my stay at this lake house! The location is beautiful and offers a private retreat from the hustle and bustle of city living. The host was very responsive and friendly. Would definitely recommend this airbnb for a couple or solo retreat!

Leslie was a wonderful host and very responsive. I needed to extend my stay and she made it very easy. This charming home is exactly as advertised. The bed was very comfortable and the area felt very safe. The property was very quaint and quiet. I highly recommend her sweet cottage for your next stay. I grew up a few blocks away and was already familiar with the area, but Leslie provided some suggestions in the area for activities and restaurants.

I was in town on business, the house was very relaxing, peaceful and private.

Our stay at this property was truly an amazing getaway. The breathtaking views and stunning sunrises from the porch were a daily delight. The home is exactly as described and absolutely beautiful. We felt like we were at home. Each room is uniquely decorated. The doors opening up from the upstairs living room to the porch outside with a comfortable couch was so wonderful. We enjoyed the quietness Beach Music offered. We look forward to coming back soon one day.

We visited Susan’s home for an out of state wedding we were attending. It was so much more than she even wrote about and she filled us in on every detail possible. The special little touches around the home….the welcome basket, the toiletries, the ice machine, the bottles of water, a fully stocked home….the list goes on and on! We were so busy with our wedding that we could not spend a whole lotta time enjoying the multiple amenities that they provided to us. I guess that means we’re going to have to go back and use the Pickleball court, the fire pit, and take full advantage of the pier. Thank you for being so welcoming to our family!! We literally cannot wait to come back and spend some more time in your PERFECT guesthouse! It was so nice meeting you!

We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was the perfect size for my group of 4 and had everything we needed for our 4 day stay. Check out instructions were easy and minimal. We spent most evenings on the beach watching the spectacular sunsets. The location was fantastic and in a lovely neighborhood and a quick and easy drive to Cape Charles. We also really appreciated the 2pm check in.

Our stay with family was a blast! We had beautiful weather for our stay and the front porch was our favorite for hanging out! And the fireplace was nice and cozy on the cooler mornings. The location is so convenient for walking downtown to restaurants and shops. Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise!
