Vacation rentals in Vopnafjörður

Cute little waterfront cottage on a farm! This was such a beautiful spot, literally right on a lake and about 20 minutes from the closest town. It was very private and great to have an entire cottage to ourselves. Definitely expect a farm cottage stay- it's minimalistic but has what you need including a full kitchen and two bedrooms. It was easy to get in and find as well. The mattress could use some updating (sunken on one half of it) but definitely was able to get a full nights sleep. We went during the winter so didn't get to see any of the farm animals, but I'm sure thats a very charming part of the experience!

The cottage was lovely and in a secluded location surrounded by bird-song and trees, just a short drive from Egilsstadir. The deck outside is expansive and would be great in warmer weather; as it is, the hot tub was terrific after a day of exploring, and for viewing the northern lights! The bedrooms are European-tiny without a lot of room for "stuff", but with only two of us, we were able to spread out a bit and it all worked out just fine. We very enjoyed our stay in this lovely family getaway.

Best host ever! This stay was one of the highlights of my journey. His dog Prada and the sheep farm equally lovely. Spectacular views, serene environment and lovely home. Makes me want to move to Iceland!

It was great. The room is comfortable, very comfortable bed, very soft sheets and duvets. The staff is always so kind and helpful. Restaurant and pub just a few seconds from the room, with great beer. The spa is simple and delightful. Being able to admire the night from the hot tubs is priceless. Very good!

Accommodation according to the photos, that said we were looking for calm and solitude, and we were surprised when we arrived to see another cabin a few meters away with our 2 living rooms facing us forcing us to close the adjoining curtain for privacy. It's still very quiet, and cute, perfect for resting and observing aurora if the weather permits. The little visit of our hosts' dog was also pleasant, no language barrier for this little doggie.

We had a great time and immediately felt like home. Bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. It was nice to have the possibility to wash and dry our clothes. It was a nice location to discover the northeast, but it took us usually more than an hour to get to places we wanted to see. But in that circle there was plenty to look for in one week. We landed in Keyflavik around 2 pm and more or less 11 hours later we were in the flat, including waiting for our luggage, getting a car, grocery shopping and some breaks. The check in was very easy and didn’t depend on any time. And the water didn’t taste like sulphur. We had a great time!

Great place. Very spacious and lovingly furnished and decorated. Don’t be scared by the gravel path leading to the property. Once you get there, you will be rewarded with very serene surroundings outside, and a beautiful house inside.
