Cottage vacation rentals in Scottish Borders

This is a ‘wow’ place and I couldn’t have enjoyed my four-night getaway any more. Everything is spotless, the whole place is very spacious, and furnishings are comfortable. The log fire and the hot tub were the highlights, with the super comfy bed coming in a close second! Had a lovely time doing a bit of work, reading and just totally relaxing. So peaceful and private. Highly recommend to anyone!

The Studio was lovely, all fixtures and fitting are of a very high quality, the pictures of the view didn’t really do it justice, it is truly beautiful and the valley changed continuously giving a unique vista on an almost nonstop basis. We had to arrive a day late due to a fallen tree on the approach road to the property, our host was very communicative and kept us informed about the progress. They also kindly allowed us to check out late on our departure day. We would highly recommend this property and are already planning to return in the future.

Had a lovely stay in this property and location met our needs perfectly . Hot tub was worth paying a bit extra for . Flat would be ideal for a larger group as the rooms are very spacious and well equipped . Only comment would be that some information on car parking would be helpful for those not familiar with the area . We were unaware of the existence of a garage until after check in . I knew where to park without charge in Melrose but it would be helpful to provide this information to other guests . Thank you for our stay . I would definitely recommend to others .

We were greeted by Fiona on arrival at The Stables. Fiona was very friendly, she gave us a tour of the accomodation and onsite pub and explained how to use the hot tub. Information regarding local restaurants, places of interest, was also made available in a handy guide, aswell as recommendations and reviews from previous guests. A welcome gift of a cheese board and prosecco, was a lovely gesture from Paul & Fiona. The stables had a well equipped kitchen, so no problems if you decide to stay in and cook. The bathroom was beautifully decorated with an amazing shower. Towels and robes were left beautifully displayed in the bedroom. The bedroom itself was light and airy, and the bed, very comfortable. The hot tub was a definite highlight, very relaxing with stunning views.

Wow!!! What a holiday we had! Surroundedings are absolutely stunning!! And the cottage - cozy, clean, full of character and the hosts made us feel right at home! The small things like the sustainable products, extra shampoo and soaps in case anything was forgotten and even a full ice tray on our first night made us feel like the hosts really cared about making our stay as comfortable as possible! We had the best time and loved every moment - thank you so much!!

The pod was great, very modern and cosy with everything you could need for a stay. Definitely would recommend to people looking for a hottub getaway.

We had a great stay at Samieston lodge. It was really clean and felt homely with lovely views of the countryside and a comfy bed. The garden was the best and most secure that we have had for our dog and was big enough for him to have a good around in. We found some lovely walks and some great places to eat near by

Loved our stay here. Very rural and peaceful. Home was extremely clean and well appointed, excellent for families sharing. The beds are really comfortable. Hosts were lovely and super friendly. Would highly recommend staying here if you’re after a decent amount of space for a good price in a very quiet location. The dark skies were incredible.

A beautiful place to stay inside and out. The views were breathtaking! Our little dogs loved playing in the garden which was well fenced (even our mischievous Westie couldn’t find a way to escape!) The fire was such a nice touch, we loved having fires each day. Wood was supplied if you didn’t use the heating which was great! Coming from a city we don’t have a fire so happy to not use the heating! Kate was so responsive and really friendly. We even had some fresh eggs from her hens which was so lovely. We were thrilled to see the property in snow on our last night/day it really just rounded off our stay perfectly! If you are thinking about booking..do it! Also the shower is great! (Always something I judge! Haha) Can’t wait to rebook!❤️

Very comfortable stay with all we needed. The cottage was spacious yet cosy, would love to go back in the winter when it’s cold enough to have the fire lit. Glorious walks from the door and two great pubs within walking distance - what more could you want? The welcome pack was super - thank you!

Wonderful location and Georgie's place is perfect to walk and explore. Facilities as described and the fireplace is perfect to read a book by if the weather turns bad. Really enjoyed our stay and will be back.

We had a lovely stay at The Steadings, it was very comfortable and homely. I cooked for relatives and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need. We were very cosy, it was warm and the beds and bedding were luxurious. We will return for sure.

We had a fabulous stay for a few action packed days, mountain biking and walking. Amazing Sunday Lunch at The Gordon Arms. Superb location, thanks very much!

We had a fabulous break at Stuart’s beautiful cottage, albeit a short one. It was lovely that Stuart was there to greet us on arrival & showed us around the cottage explaining how things worked etc., He was so friendly & welcoming & gave us information about local places to visit, plus lots of books, maps & information leaflets are available inside the cottage. The cottage is exactly as the photographs, it is so cosy & comfortable yet spacious. We enjoyed visiting Dunns Castle & Nature Reserve & Berwick. We would recommend visiting The Corner House Cafe for great food & good service with the added bonus of being dog friendly. If you fancy a good night in, we would definitely recommend the Indian restaurant Rajdhani Spice at Coldstream & the games provided by Stuart in the cottage for a good laugh!😆 Thank you Stuart & Claire for giving us the opportunity to experience the gorgeous & peaceful area you live in. Hopefully we will see you again in the not too distant future! 🤞

Lovely spot that was perfect for our family. Views from nearly every side over rolling hills (very peaceful), easy walk to town and nearby trails to hike. Wasn’t far at all to places like Kielder Forest, Hadrians Wall or even Newcastle. As we stayed over Christmas, the hosts decorated the house to really make us feel at home! Would definitely stay again.

We spent a long weekend at this beautiful location to celebrate my dads 60th birthday & we wish we could have stayed longer. Julie had thought of everything you could need and more, the place was faultless! Julie was very helpful & always responded to any messages promptly! The location was beautiful, amazing views and very peaceful, perfect for anyone who enjoys going on walks. Thank you for making our celebrations even better!

This was our 2nd stay at the cottage, and we’re already thinking about staying again! We stayed at the cottage to celebrate a birthday and we really enjoyed our time here. Lovely cottage with great views. Very spacious, nice big kitchen looking out to the fields, lovely bedrooms and relaxing living room. Beautifully decorated as well. Couldn’t ask for more. This is a lovely cottage which has been restored with great care and attention to detail. The location is ideal for exploring the Scottish borders and Northumberland. Having 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms was a great advantage. The host was very responsive and provided us with really helpful information about the cottage and aspects of the local area. The Contented Vine restaurant in Kelso was perfect for our evening out.
