What a beautiful piece of heaven on earth. We loved the cows, the stunning view of the river, the brightness of the stars, and the quiet….did I mention….the quiet! We enjoyed our time and hope we will be able to come again and stay longer.

If your like me and you go to historic homes on tour and you have a secret desire to live there, than this home is for you. To have the opportunity to actually sleep in a 1700s home complete with antique furnishings was such a wonderful opportunity. Definitely recommend reading through the history of the house and taking time to peruse the many interesting things in the home. I’m sure there are more comfortable/luxurious places to stay but as an experience and a stay all rolled into one this was a great one.

We have stayed at this place twice now and absolutely love it. Edee is a wonderful host and her place is peaceful and clean. We also love being surrounded by the mountains and a farm with all kinds of animals. We would not hesitate to stay here again and will be doing so. Thank you for a home away from home!!!

This was the cutest, coziest Little home… Literally felt like I was staying at my grandma’s house. The uniqueness and personal touches throughout the place made everything feel very comfortable. Very nice little spot located, literally, right on top of some local shops. We did not get a chance to visit the local hiking areas but would like to come back to do so and eat at some of the restaurants we saw in the area...maybe Vickie's place will be available again! The little snacks and extra touches of hospitality were greatly appreciated. Arriving home for the night and munching on some snack size boxes of cereal really hits the spot! Very clean, comfy, and uncluttered. Thanks Vickie!

Happy Trails was nicely updated and furnished with all the items we could think of. Beds were comfortable and heat system was excellent. The two bathrooms looked as if they had just been updated and showers had good water pressure. Eddie is a great host. Proactive reaching out to see if we needed anything and full of written information about area attractions. We would be happy to stay here anytime we come to this area of southwest Virginia.

What a beautiful, restored home! We were impressed with all the hard work the hosts did (themselves!) to restore the house, and the creative, beautiful, thoughtful design that was throughout the house. We loved the large kitchen and dining area, and the huge first floor bathroom! We appreciated that there was a main bedroom on the first floor and additional bedrooms on the second floor.

R-Pod of Whippoorwill Hill

We needed somewhere to stay the night during a roadtrip and the r-pod was perfect for our needs! All of the basic essentials were provided, plus some thoughtful touches. As a plus size gal, the bathroom was a squeeze but still doable. Be warned, it was quite chilly inside the pod for an October night! There was a small space heater provided, which came in very handy, but bringing extra blankets might be a good idea (or dress warm for bed lol). Also, a heads up that there were some loose dogs hanging out around the pod when we arrived and left. They seemed friendly, but were not scared of the car, so be on the lookout when pulling in/out. Overall, a good choice!

I absolutely loved this place. After driving down for most part of the day, it was such a relief to be able to get inside easily and just rest. The place is beautiful and looked like something out of a fairytale. My boyfriend was so impressed with the hospitality, breakfast felt like catching up with family members.
