Great place for family of 4. We felt completely at home. Would have liked a larger lanai but was fine for the 4 of us. Very nice to supply beach chairs. Beds were very comfortable and loved having the ceiling fans. Kitchen was nicely stocked

The Vanda

GrantRating, 5 stars1 week ago
The Vanda is a great deal in a great location in Kona. We loved it. 8 minute walk north to Magic Sands beach, and 15 minute walk to the south snorkel beach. The place is better than in the photos. The unit isn't fancy, but it is functional. Fridge, hotplate, quiet air conditioner, bed is fine, lovely outdoor sitting area. We will book it again!

The Salty Seahorse, ocean front, ocean view condo

DavidRating, 5 stars3 days ago
What a perfect place! From check-in to our departure a week later, we found ourselves uttering the phrase "They thought of everything!" countless times. Ranging from an exceptionally well-equipped kitchen to a beach supply closet complete with snorkel equipment, boogie boards, chairs, umbrellas, sunscreen (even binoculars and dry bags), this condo has it all. On top of that, it was spotless! We have no suggestions for improvements from the hosts, but would advise potential guests to remember that the unit is a good walk 30-40min+ from the nearest large grocery store and main cluster of restaurants. It is centrally located to explore the larger sandier beaches up north (Hapuna Beach & Mauna Kea Beach- 45 min drive) and the Volcanoes National Park to the south (2 hr drive).

Beautiful Remodel Great Value Book Now!

JosephRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Very convenient and comfortable, well-appointed. The condo is on the shady side of the complex, which might be an important advantage in the summer months; it was not an issue now, although it was hard to find a sunny space to dry shoes. The general aspect was very pleasant, with very easy access to the beach, which is gently sloped and has calm waves. Easy highway access to drive to other places. The ceiling fans keep the rooms feeling cool; we were always comfortable. The (patio? lanai?) outside the living room was an extremely pleasant place to sit. The instructions warned about ants, but we saw none. Possibly the season, or the fact that we didn't cook much. The one thing I could have wished for was some specification in the description about the hardness of the mattresses. Preferences on this vary; we prefer very firm mattresses and these were somewhat soft, which caused problems for my wife's back.

Your guide to Hawaii

Welcome to Hawaii

With warm trade winds, spectacular natural scenery on land and under the sea, and a cultural heritage unique in the world, the Aloha State is an iconic tropical paradise. The six major islands of Hawaii each have their own distinct personalities, landscapes, and attractions to cater to visitors seeking rest and relaxation or active adventures and adrenaline rushes. From urban exploration in the bustling state capital Honolulu, to the windswept vistas at Kauai’s Kalalau lookout, beach days on Maui, donkey trails on Molokai, hiking trails on Lanai, and volcanoes on the Big Island (also named Hawaii), every visit to the islands is unique and memorable. You can spend the morning surfing or snorkeling in the company of sea turtles and the afternoon hiking canyons, paddling past waterfalls, or simply soaking up the sunshine on white, green, or black sand beaches. Hawaii’s vibrant cultural scene has produced an outstanding variety of food and dining options, with an emphasis on the seafood that’s so close at hand, ideal to fuel day-trip excursions or to savour while enjoying spectacular tropical sunsets.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Hawaii

Hawaii’s climate is mild and sunny throughout the year, with only minor changes in temperature. As a result, the U.S. state is popular with visitors throughout the entire year. The average temperature ranges from 29.4 degrees Celsius in summer to 25.6 degrees Celsius in winter. The wettest months are from November to March, but the amount of rainfall will vary wildly from island to island and be impacted by the shielding effects of volcanic mountains, elevation, and coastal location. The Hawaiian Islands’ trade winds maintain a cooling breeze year round, while tropical storms during the winter months can have a localized impact and cause wave conditions to swell, creating big, powerful waves along the north shore of several islands.

Top things to do in Hawaii

Island Beaches

Every Hawaiian island has a variety of beaches to discover. From black and green sand beaches on the Big Island to Oahu’s popular Waikiki Beach and the family-friendly boogie-boarding waters of Poipu Beach Park on Kauai, there is a stretch of sandy coastline for everyone to enjoy. Many of the most popular beaches have lifeguards on duty seven days a week, but smaller or more remote beaches may not.

Honolulu

World-famous Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head, and the Pearl Harbor National Memorial are but a few of the state capital’s most iconic destinations. Located on the island of Oahu, Honolulu offers active adventures on land and sea, artistic pursuits at museums and cultural centers, shopping at high-end boutiques on Kalakaua Avenue, and a wide variety of dining options that highlight the city’s diverse cultural and culinary traditions.

Volcanoes

The Hawaiian Islands owe their existence to the awesome power of volcanic eruptions. The youngest and largest island of Hawaii grows daily because of the constant flow of lava from Kilauea, one of the Earth’s most active volcanoes. You can visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island and journey along the Crater Rim Drive to explore Kilauea Overlook and walk through Nahuku, the Thurston Lava Tube.
