Hale `Olu

Lovely home! I was expecting just a room in a house like the description but the space has its own entryway, bathroom, and dining area so it feels like a separate studio apartment. It was beautiful and clean. Would recommend to those wanting to stay close to Volcano National Park!

Ocean View Farm Cabin at Kulaniapia Falls

NicoleRating, 5 stars12 months ago
Our stay at Kulaniapia Farm exceeded expectations, the cabin especially. I was expecting a pretty bare bones cabin thanks to both the pictures and description, but the cabins are beautifully made, with comfortable linens and a stunning view of the farm, down to the ocean. We spent an entire day exploring the farm and sharing the space with the community members during a monsoon-like rainy day. We didn’t get to enjoy the waterfall due to the weather, but our experience getting to immerse ourselves in the community was even better. I will say the Airbnb listing doesn’t do a great job of explaining the property—you’ll be staying on a working farm where there are several employees doing a work to live program. The shared living space is quite literally their home, which may feel awkward for some (the majority of those we met were lovely humans). There are also cats living in the shared barn space, which may be an issue for those with allergies.

Pillows in Paradise, "Lanikai" Private Studio

BriannaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a wonderful stay in Kailua! It is so rare to find accommodation there, and we truly felt like we were being hosted by family. The beach in Kailua is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Plenty of room to set up the beach chairs in the shade. We traveled with our son, who loved the beach toys and boogie boards. We were grateful to have a cooler! There were plenty of beach towels as well. The kitchenette is well equipped. We ate breakfast there, and picked up dinner from whole foods a few times. The town is safe and welcoming, with markets, restaurants, shops, and some of the best shave ice on the island. Kailua is the best of Oahu! The neighborhood is safe, walkable and beautiful. Some reviews mentioned that the AC had a hard time keeping up - it is an older home without roof insulation, so the AC won’t feel as cold as a movie theatre, but we were always very comfortable at night!

Honeymoon Cottage. Hot Tub. 1 Mile to the Park

JeffRating, 5 stars42 months ago
Absolute Gem!! This has to be one of the most cute cabins we’ve ever rented! The cabin is just perfect for 2, and is very well appointed. Gorgeous inside and the property around it is like a fairy tale filled with beautiful flowers, plants & trees. Let the rain tapping on the roof and the frogs serenade you to sleep. Perfectly located to allow you to explore the island during the day, come back for an early evening nap and get up to see the volcano lava flows at night! Amazing place and excellent host. Do not hesitate in booking this.

Aunty Janice is a an extremely lovely host who embodies that Aloha spirit. Her home is private but major roads like Hana highway are extremely accessible along with local beaches and restaurants. The living space is beautiful, peaceful and with great attention to detail. A local of Maui, Aunty Janice has great stories, recommendations and an overall loving spirit. I felt right at home and hope to return! Highly recommend! Mahalo nui loa Aunty Janice!

#3 King Suite

HariniRating, 5 stars46 months ago
We (myself and my husband) had an enjoyable stay here. Splendid and admirable service. Resort-style stay at an affordable price and total privacy (no resort sort of crowd). Marvelous view, customized breakfast (I'm vegetarian, Indian). Clem is a sweetheart. He made Indian veg-pulav for us which was top-notch. His pancakes are the best ones we have had so far. He also made early breakfast at 5 am for us since we had a flight to catch. They have an outdoor kitchen with a stove, grill BBQ, micro-oven, crockeries (which they will wash after use - love it. Probably my first trip without washing dishes ), and necessary spices. They have a clean pool (the water was so good), perfect jacuzzi. I had a sound sleep throughout my stay here. The king-size bed had a heater with independent control for both sides (OMG !!! heaven-sent). The room had a coffee maker, kettle, fridge, and more than enough cabinets for clothes, and more. The washer and dryer were very handy. And they have surplus bath towels, hand towels, beach towels, snorkeling goggles and flippers, floatation boards, noodles, swim belts, beach chairs, ice cooler boxes, and MORE. The location is perfect with a calm residence hilltop view, nearby cafes (must try), coffee tasting at Greenwell, nurseries, and beaches. On top of it, we got lucky by spending July 4th here with a relaxed private viewing of fireworks. Special thanks for replacing all towels, door mates and providing room service daily. I would rank no:1 (I have OCD for cleanliness and organizing). For me, it's my fantasy came true !!! I Will definitely stay here again (goes without saying).

Hamakua X - Harmony

DavidRating, 5 stars3 months ago
I really enjoyed my 5 nights. My family had been with me for a couple weeks at a much higher nightly cost, so in my extra 10 days I wanted to ratchet down to a more reasonable nightly cost. And this natural paradise was a success for me. I loved getting know Honokaa area better - and the roads around this retreat are just remarkable with their huge eucalyptus trees! Kitchen was pristine, and they have a nice French press for my critical morning coffee. And enjoyed eating the farm’s bananas for breakfast. And space in the fridge & freezer for my extra foods left over. I was tempted to stay extra nights, but figured it better to keep exploring the awesome island. They had an extra blanket because it does get chilly in the middle of the night. Memorable and enjoyable airbnb!

Holomakai North shore ocean view B and B room 2

IliraRating, 5 stars1 week ago
The place had a water view while also surrounded by beautiful fruit trees. It was a pleasure to just sit on the lanai and look at the surroundings. Check in was very straight forward and flexible; we came at 10pm but that wasn’t a problem because you can just let yourself in. The place was also right on Hana highway, 3 minutes away from a country store where you can buy food, and 7 minutes away from Twins Falls. Overall a really nice place.

Penny’s in paradise

AngelaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
What a wonderful place to spend our maui vacay! It was exactly what we were looking vs for… away from the resorts and tourist chaos. At the same time it was close to the national park, the beaches, the lil towns full of shopping and more! It was super spacious, private, and comfortable. Mad props to Penny for being responsive to our questions and also providing great recommendations. 10/10! If this place is not available the next time we want to go to Maui, we’ll reschedule until it is! :)

Cool Coffee Shack Farm Stay - Comfort in Nature

BrettRating, 5 stars15 months ago
Louis and Tony were very wonderful. We loved staying on their farm. First night we weren't quite ready for the jungle sounds. The roosters can be quite loud even starting early in the night. But after that we got more used to it and something about feeling like you were sleeping outside, but in the safety of a rustic home with screen windows helped melt our stress away. Breakfasts were phenomenal and the hosts were super accommodating to my husband's many dietary restrictions - can't get enough of their fresh fruit and eggs! We would certainly stay here again. Thank you Louis and Tony!

Room, Patio, Hot Tub, Breakfast

SamanthaRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Lovely place to stay at. Lots of nature sounds and the windchimes were a nice touch. I even had a couple pheasants right outside my back door when I opened the curtains the next day. It felt quiet and a relief after staying at lodgings on main streets. I met J.D. and an another fellow who I think was helping with some small renovations. Friendly folks. I appreciated the breakfast and the little treats left for guests in the fridge. Lots of options for tea, too, if you're not a coffee person. The nearest store for groceries is about a mile away, and if you want, it's a nice walk. There's filtered water available near the hot tub and also a couple water bottles provided in the room's fridge. I didn't try the hot tub, but it looked nice. This area can get a fair bit colder at night, but there's plenty of warm bedding, and also the hot tub as long as it's not quiet hours. It's close to Volcanoes N.P. and it's also a nice area in general. I would definitely come back.

Nai’a Suite at La Bella’s-Walk to Beach-Licensed

EileenRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay! We are in our early 70's and appreciated the spacious walk in shower with grab bars. Generous breakfasts with yogurt, fresh fruits and vegetables, croissants, hard boiled eggs, and OJ. We ate outside every morning. It is on a busy road but very little road noise. You can hear them playing Reveille every morning at 8am at the marine base but you have to listen for it! We elected to drive to a different beach every day that has bathrooms so never tried to walk to "their" beach. They do provide beach chairs, snorkeling equipment, bikes, boats, beach towels, and a clothes line to hang your wet bathing suits. The Safeway across the street is super convenient. Comfortable bed, AC works great, good lighting, lots of hangers in the closet. Definitely recommend and hope to stay here again next year!

The location was beautiful, the community was fabulous, I've never been somewhere that the other guests were so chatty and welcoming. It was my first time in Hawaii, first vacation in over a decade, and it was magical! I will definitely be staying here again when I'm on the big island! The Monday night bbq is a big event that brings members of the community from all over the island! The kitchen was great, but some other guests' items had spilled into my section of the fridge but no biggie as I didn't have much I needed space for since I was planning to try as much local food as I could. I would recommend that, even if you plan to eat out, you should bring coffee and/or breakfast type snacks as the nearest town is about a 15 minute drive. There was a breakfast service available that I didn't take advantage of because I was going to local restaurants. 11/10 Thanks for the stay Mathew! I had an absolutely amazing time and I wish I'd been staying longer!
