Waterfront vacation rentals in Praia Formosa

We stayed at Marco’s apartment with our 1-year-old baby and spent three wonderful weeks there. The accommodation is located in the sunniest part of the island. From the 4th floor, there’s a stunning view of the ocean from both terraces where you can watch the sunset too. The living room is bathed in sunlight all day and overlooks a peaceful park above the plaza. In my opinion, the apartment is even cozier than it appears in the photos and is fully equipped with everything you might need. We cooked and did laundry quite a lot during our stay. There are several restaurants, a hair salon, and a toy shop in the same building as the apartment. Across the street, there’s a greengrocer, and just a few steps away is a shopping mall. The playground is located in park just a block away from the apartment, and at the beginning of the street, there’s a traditional bakery filled with local delicacies. Communication with Marco was very smooth, he’s truly a wonderful host!

The apartment is an perfect location, plenty of restaurants, bars and markets nearby. The house’s equipment is excellent, the kitchen especially has everything you can possibly need.

We were there as two friends and we enjoyed the accommodation and location very much. Very convenient in contrast to others is free parking on the premises. Everything was clean and the manager Edgar was always available for questions. Especially nice is that with clear skies, the beautiful sunset can be admired from both balconies.

What can I say… we have stayed in several Airbnbs abroad and in the Uk and this one hits the spot. Betty was a complete star. The location is perfect in every way. Restaurants, bus stop, Madeira Forum which has a fantastic supermarket and every shop you might need. The apartment was spotless, homely, lots of extras left to help in the first day or so. Then the views.. oh what a delight. My dad who has difficulty walking had an amazing time looking out to sea.. watching the weather and boats. Private car parking space for the hire car.. all on level ground with lifts which aided with the accessibility we needed! Utterly brilliant already planning two more holidays with Betty! Immaculate well located apartment, well above our expectations from the description. A little bit of road noise but only to be expected with the location in the centre of the village.

Great place with a very central location - yet quite quiet

The house is very comfortable, with beautiful decor and was extremely clean. The location is great. We can take a walk with a wonderful sea view. It has nearby supermarket and several restaurants. The pools are also amazing! We highly recommend it!

At first I did not think much about it. but then I absolutely loved it! right by the water, an easy walk to a very cool bar on the right and a place to go swimming, great vibe, and another easy walk to a nice village on the left. It's so relaxing, easy going, authentic. My wife and i had a great time. I recommend the location most of all.

Great location for being out of the thick of it, but close enough for regular buses into town, and with spectacular views over the harbour.

Perfection! Dina is lovely, great communication, easy instructions, helpful and responsive. Apartment was amazing, peaceful, comfortable, clean, with everything you need and a view you could sit and look at all day. Supermarket, bars, restaurants and beach all few minutes walk. Would go back tomorrow if I could.

The best Airbnb stay we've been to. We were two families, 10 people in total including big teenagers, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house is a charming old villa, with heated pool, views and walking distance to the city center. We couldn't have wished for more. Antonio is the perfect host, was quick and helpful as shortly before our holiday there were issues with our booking (which we were to blame for ourselves). Top recommendations from here.

We had a wonderful week stay at Ana Paula’s house in Porto Da Cruz. The house is perfect and the kids loved swimming in the pool in February. The location is fantastic with lots to do nearby. Ana Paula is a great host and was always very attentive. We would return without hesitation!

Our stay in Madalena was fantastic - absolutely amazing views of the mountains and the ocean, immediately felt right at home. We had an amazing stay at the sweet brava home! Gomes was very helpful with checking in and gave us a thorough walk through of all the amenities as well as provided a bunch of (local) recommendations throughout our stay. The home was easy to find, very clean and had everything we needed for our 5 night stay!

Maria&Luara were fantastic and helpful hosts. The location of this apartment cannot be underestimated.This is the perfect location for Funchal and day tripping the entire Island. Having a place to park a car is bonus too as this gives flexibility to tour the island by car or take off on foot around Funchal.The property is steps to all the great restaurants,shopping and parks not forgetting the harbor right infront of the apartment too.Lots to explore on foot nearby thanks to the location.The balcony/terrace is huge and wraps around most of the apartment giving a spectacular almost 360 panoramic view of Funchal harbor, city and surrounding hills.This view is amazing at night and especially around Christmas time as absolutely everything is lit up with Christmas lights all around the city and up and down the hills and this balcony is truly the best place to see all this while relaxing with a drink on a mild evening. Also the view of the sunrise was also spectacular from the balcony deck.

The apartment was exactly as described. It was very well equipped & the location can’t be beat if you’d like to be walking through old town & enjoying amazing views. We loved the small but adequate balcony to watch the goings on & sunsets. Cristina was the best! Friendly, attentive, informative & so helpful. We would highly recommend staying here & would/will again.

Chayanne is an attentive and kind host who went out of his way to make our stay extra comfortable, and gave us useful recommendations for our trip. The flat is peaceful and spacious and has everything you need; great selection of crockery, knives and pans, and one could easily stay a month here comfortably. There is a decent sized pool and a cosy balcony to enjoy the views. I highly recommend this place and I hope to come back here next time!

We had the most beautiful week here in February. The apartment was perfect - we loved sitting outside and watching the sunrise across Funchal. It was super peaceful but also very close to local restaurants and a supermarket. Everything was exactly as described and we will certainly be back!

This was my 3rd stay here. An excellent place which is in a great location, with it being fairly quiet and only a 5/10 minute walk to plenty of restaurants and bars. Rooms very good, Kitchen seemed to have what we needed, and the terrace is superb. Can sit out in the sun or in the shade, lovely for a quiet breakfast looking at the sea. Around a 20-25 minute walk to the old town but buses and taxis easy and cheap enough if you cannot go that far. Will more than likely be back next year. 10/10

Very nice and fully equipped apartment (kitchen equipment, bath linen, tour guides,...). Quiet with a large terrace enjoying a magnificent sea view, little lively village but still with a few restaurants and bars, ideally located for visiting Madeira. Nelson was very responsive during our exchanges. to visit without hesitation
