Vacation rentals in Karbers Ridge

First time back in Southern Illinois since graduating SIUC in 2016. This trip did not disappoint. I wanted to show my fiancée the area I went to school and never stop talking about. We enjoyed hiking, kayaking, wineries, countless other outdoorsy activities.

My Mom, sisters and I recently stayed at Dave and Sara's 'Lake of Egypt Hilltop Retreat' for a girls' weekend, and we had a great time! The cozy property has beautiful views of Lake of Egypt and it's really a serene setting. The accommodations were great for our group. We really loved the open-concept living and dining area where we were able to gather comfortably to chat, share meals, and relax after exploring the area. The fully equipped kitchen made meal prep a breeze. We weren't able to fully enjoy the outdoor space with the deck and firepit due to the bitterly cold temps and rain, but we hope to be able to enjoy both during our next stay. The retreat's location was ideal, offering a peaceful escape while still being close (20-min drive) to plenty of activities. We loved exploring the nearby trails in Shawnee National Forest and some cute breakfast spot and antique shops. This was the perfect setting for quality time with my Mom and sisters. The beds were really comfy and there was a personal thermostat upstairs too. excellent array of spices and cooking ware. Thank you!

We arrived on Thanksgiving Day where almost everything was closed so you can imagine our surprise having Milk in the fridge so our daughter could have hot chocolate on a cold day when we arrived. The place was ready for us as we arrived. Even though it was cold we still enjoyed going outside by the lake for a little bit to enjoy the view and the lake. The house location was great, peaceful and quiet, exactly what we needed. Thank you for a wonderful stay and would definitely visit again, this time when it's warm and sunny so we can enjoy more of the outside lake life.

The Red Barn was a cozy and comfortable home. The location was perfect for what we needed; a quiet place and plenty of room.

This was a great place. We'd like to try it again in the warmer months. We stayed during a storm and the home was very relaxing.

If you’re looking for something peaceful with a great view, this was perfect. The hot tub and back deck were our favorites. Comfortable seating on the back porch. The lake was beautiful. The living room tv was not a smart tv. There were plenty of dvds to choose from, but they were outdated so that’s the only thing I would change. The privacy screen around the hot tub was convenient. The gravel road leading up to the cabin was very unexpected because of the fact it reminded me of being in the mountains with how steep it got at a couple points. The host was quick to respond back with any issue you may have. The shopping areas in Paducah were only 20 minutes away which was a great thing because that’s where we spent a few hours and didn’t have to travel far. The neighbors were super close so we kept all of our curtains closed because of not knowing if anyone could see inside our cabin. I would love to come back in the warmer months!

Bell is a great host, even though she wasn't able to meet with us she had another person ready to check us in and answer any questions that we had about the place. We had some issues with the guests above us not following rules, and even though Bell didn't have to, she called us personally to apologize about it. The view on the lake is beautiful, and the hot tub was relaxing. This place is a hidden gem in my opinion, and my fiancé and I will definitely be going back in the future. If you're looking for a romantic getaway from it all, this is the place for you.
