Bed and breakfast vacation rentals in Honshu

My friend and I decided to hike the Akame 48 Waterfalls in winter and stay nearby. We just moved to Osaka and wanted to spend a weekend away doing something beautiful. Yuya's place was close and cheap, and the reviews were outstanding so we booked. I had vague ideas about how to get there and what to do, but after messaging with Yuya the trip became a dream. He offered to drive us to and from the falls (the hike was so beautiful), he suggested street food to eat which was delicious, a local onsen to use after the hike which was so traditional and peaceful, he picked us up from the Onsen and checked us in when we requested, his house was old and Japanese and gorgeous, full of history, the garden is perfect, we went to a local restaurant and the food was amaaazing, and then we spent the rest of the night playing historic games we found around the house. The next morning he served us free breakfast! I was so thrilled with my trip to Yuya's place I will be bringing more friends soon.

Shuji and his wife, Miyumi were such kind and friendly hosts. From greeting us at the station and giving us a ride to their house to the wonderful breakfast and dinner they prepared for us, everything was absolutely top notch. We also felt right at home and even got to experience a traditional Japanese style tatami room. They were very willing to provide us with recommendations for things to do around Himeji during our stay. We highly recommend this place! Thank you again, Shuji and Miyumi!

Our family felt so welcomed by Yuriko and her family. Delicious breakfast. The electric bikes were very useful for exploring around Mashiko. Yuriko was also willing to drop us off and pick up in her car. Generous ceramic gifts to take home. Such wonderfully warm hearted hosts, who we highly recommend if you are staying in Mashiko.

We loved staying with Linda and Leo and meeting the other guests. They are great hosts and make you feel like you are coming into their home. The location was right next to a public onsen which was perfect for using after long snowboard days. It was also across the street from the bus stop and a only a few minutes walk to the main center of town. The rooms were warm and comfortable. We greatly enjoyed our stay- thank you so much!!

Very good travel experience, when I went to climb Mt. Daji, the host also lent me the flashlight, the location was very good, right on the edge of Uji Bridge, I wanted to come to Kyoto blowing card people can go (Tatami house is also very interesting)

Our stay was beyond what we expected. The host went above and beyond to help us with getting the most out of our trip. This was our first time in Japan. The next time we come to nagano we will definitely be staying here again. 10/10 recommended for people coming to ski and enjoy small ski town vibes.

Mickey, Mary and their team were great hosts. They have been very helpful and friendly and they took great care of us. We had an amazing week skiing in Hakuba with a great place to rest in the evenings.

Motoko was very hospitable, and used some English with us since we couldn't speak much Japanese. She also made us breakfast-to-order each day which was *amazing*. The overall environment felt warm and welcoming, and me and my two co-guests were very comfortable. You should know that this is someone's home with a shared kitchen/living room. You and your fellow guests have a more private living space which includes a washing area, bedrooms and other necessities. (and the host has her own space upstairs as well, so you still have a fair amount of privacy regardless). As long as you're ok with that, this will be a great stay!

This guest house is will be the best choice. The host tommy is very kind and mindful. He speaks english very well, so someone who didn't speak japanese will be satified. Also, the domitory bed was very nice. It's cozy and comfotable. And Tommy will give you breakfast If you request. The toast was tasty. I recommend this guest house, you will not regret your choice. A nice traditional little house with a very friendly host! Good if you want a quiet time in Kyoto and a great breakfast. It’s a little far out from the Kyoto tourist sites like the monkey forest, but sites like ken kun and kinkaju-ji are pretty close, along with several great restaurants. Getting to chill under the kotatsu every morning and talk to other travelers was a delight :)

Staying here was the best part of my trip. Chieri is an amazing host and I had a great time getting to know some of the locals in the area.

I had a very happy time here.🥰 The owner and his wife are very friendly and warm, and when you stay here, you can fully enjoy the life of the locals as if you were returning to your own home.The breakfast prepared by the host is also delicious and enthusiastically searches for information and ideas. They were really kind and friendly, and I couldn't express the happiness and peace I felt here in words, and it was really unfortunate. I recommend this place 1000%!️

This little place is a gem and the hosts are amazing! Though you can’t ski in/out, the hosts will give you a lift to any resort for the day and pick you up. They can also drive you to the restaurants in Akakura town. You can even order dinner in and the food was delicious! I would stay here again if I was visiting the area in the future.
