Nestled in the valley, beside the pristine Deadman Creek and open pastures, a little red farmhouse awaits your relaxing rural retreat or exciting outdoor adventure. Our 80 acre farm is set within a magnificent and unexpected BC landscape, with fascinating historical and geological features dotting the surrounding area.

The farmhouse is centrally located on our working farm, but is fenced to provide a private personal space for you to enjoy.

The space
Located 28km off the highway, half paved and half gravel road. The area is rural and remote with the nearest amenities being 45 min away, so please come prepared for an adventure of this nature. Ensure your vehicle is suitable, pack and plan accordingly so that your trip is a success! :)

The farmhouse has one bedroom with a double/single bunk bed and has a queen fold out bench in the living room. If you are a larger group and prefer separate/ more private sleeping arrangements we have an additional cabin on the property that can be added on upon request.

The fenced yard has a fire pit, hot tub, bar, patio with BBQ & outdoor dining area - your personal space within our working farm.

The house is heated by wood stove and fire wood for it is supplied for free. Fire wood for outdoor fire pit is $15 for a wagonload. Campfires must abide local fire restrictions.

The farmhouse is uniquely furnished in a vintage canadiana style, you will find lots of art, literature and ephemera pertaining to the local area as well as board games and art supplies.

The Deadman River bisects the property and provides a refreshing swim during the summer. We also back onto crown land so there is access to trails for hiking.

Free range livestock you can expect to see on the farm are chickens, ducks, turkeys, guineas, geese, goats, pigs, sheep, cows, horses, rabbits, cats and dogs.

We are pet friendly but please be sure your dog is suited to a farm environment and you are prepared to keep them on leash and manage them.

Our livestock guardian dogs bark from time to time during the night. They alert us to predators and anything out of the ordinary. Apologies if they are vocal during your stay - they are doing their job!

We live on site so you can expect to see us out and about working through the day.

Farm produce and goods available!

Guest access
Full access to the 80 acre property.

Other things to note
There is no cell service in the valley so be sure to load directions to 'Deadman Acres' on googlemaps before turning off the highway.

Closest stores are about 45 min away, in Savona (Millers Crossing) or Cache Creek, so make sure you have enough supplies! It’s a remote rural area.

Deadman Vidette Rd is paved 1/2 way and transitions into a gravel road. Be sure your vehicle is ready for this kind of journey! Please check winter weather conditions - the road gets plowed but snow tires and 4x4 may be required.

We supply bug spray, but expect to see mosquitos in spring and summer depending on the weather - typically in June and July.

Neighbourhood highlights

Deadman Vidette Road begins in the Skeetchestn Indigenous community and emerges into valley bottom farmland. The winding road and parallel river are sandwiched in a dramatic backdrop of colourful rock formations and hoodoos on the slopes above. Old pioneer homesteads, remnants of fur trade and gold mining industry stand abandoned, relicts the Western frontier, dotted among the ranches and cabins that constitute the local population. Up the road from the house, a series of six lakes, plateau meadows and deadman falls.
