Family-friendly vacation rentals in Costa Rica

Andres is a great host with lots of recommendations for us for nearby beaches. All of which were beautiful. We enjoyed the scenery and being tucked away in nature.

We had an amazing time staying at Martin's place! The accommodation was airy, clean, and perfect for birdwatching—we easily spotted a dozen different species. Its convenient location near the national park, supermarket, and restaurants made our stay even better. Overall, if we return to Manuel Antonio, we know exactly where we’ll stay!

Alright, where do I even begin?! Our family stay was absolutely perfect. The location was fantastic – private and peaceful, yet close enough to everything we wanted to explore. We felt completely safe and secure, which is always a huge plus when traveling with family. The property itself was immaculate! Spotlessly clean, and the pool was truly the star of the show – we spent hours splashing and relaxing. Ricardo was a super star when it came to recommendations. We took their advice and arranged for breakfast with the recommended chef on our second day and it was delicious! Honestly, this place is exactly what you need for a relaxing getaway. It's clear they have put a lot of thought and care into making it a wonderful experience for their guests. The communication was top-notch, and the check-in/check-out process was a breeze. We had such a fantastic time, and we're already dreaming of returning! We wholeheartedly recommend this place. Thank you for everything!

If your travels take you to LaFortuna, you would be hard pressed to find a better place to stay. This place was awsome. As for as the location goes, you really can't get much better. VERY walkable to restaurants, shops, ect. VERY safe. The entire town is extremely safe and relaxed. The apartments appears to have been recently updated. All the appliances and furniture are in as-new condition. The master bed is VERY comfortable. The plunge pool and hot tub are great places to chill out and are also VERY private. Overall this is a fantastic apartment that is very well maintained and managed.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this Airbnb in Costa Rica! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the stunning view of the mountains from the pool – it’s truly breathtaking and the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The living room is incredibly spacious, with plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy some downtime. The bedroom was equally impressive – large, comfortable, and designed for maximum relaxation. Magdalena, the host, was fantastic, providing exceptional attention to detail and ensuring we had everything we needed for a seamless experience. The property itself felt very secure, which gave me peace of mind throughout my stay. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and luxurious getaway in Costa Rica!

We had a great 2 week vacation at this condo. It’s very spacious, close to lots of shops, restaurants and super markets and the condo had everything we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was exactly as you'd expect from the listing. The location was perfect for us - we could walk around La Fortuna very easily but it was also just far enough away from the hustle and bustle that we didn't have to worry about street noise. We were happy to take advantage of the option for adding a breakfast delivery. It was very helpful for the morning we had an early pick up time for a tour. The sunset views from the room and also the rooftop terrace were beyond amazing. The volcano likes to hide behind clouds but it did clear up for a short time so we could see it in all it's glory. We loved our stay here and hope to come back to stay again!

Casa Aracari was clean, comfortable, and great value. Check in was easy, and Valeria provided clear and easy to follow instructions and was incredibly responsive to any questions we had. My husband and I enjoyed our stay in Atenas there very much. Would absolutely recommend this home to friends.

The house was beautifully decorated with many ammenities such as laundry, rice cooker, etc. the free bottled water and snacks was a nice touch.

We had an amazing stay. It was very peaceful, and the staff were super friendly. 10/10

Wonderful the spacious beautiful house, the incredible pool I recommend it in the mornings you wake up and the first thing you hear are birds and lapas if what you want is to make peace tranquility and privacy this is your place

Nicole’s place is the perfect Dominical beach hideaway! It’s within walking distance to the town, great food and 2 minutes to the waves. There is room to park your car and a gate so it feels secure. Lots of wildlife around and it’s a beautiful place to relax, would love to visit again!

This was by far the most stunning property I’ve ever stayed at. We were completely amazed by the house, the grounds, the pool, and the breathtaking view; everything exceeded our expectations. The housekeeper was incredibly friendly and prepared breakfast for us each morning. During our stay, we spotted geckos, iguanas, and even monkeys on the property. Preston was highly responsive, quickly answering all of my questions. I would absolutely give this place a 10/10 and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Costa Rica. I definitely hope to return!

Overall an excellent location and a well kept set of condos/homes. The host was exceptionally responsive and helpful with recommendations. The proximity to the beach is great, although in full disclosure you do have to wade through thigh deep stagnant water to get to the beach. Very convenient for a jumping off point for all things Manuel Antonio. Only real complaint is that the parking situation is stressful and less than ideal. The parking area is lined for 4 cars, but honestly anything more than two is a challenge. This is a known limitation of the space and I doubt anything can be done about it as a host, but this was certainly a trying part of the equation. I’d recommend not driving yourself and use a driver if you have the option. Still a 5-Star review overall, but be aware of these nuances.

Mary’s place was everything we had hoped for and more! The perfect place to relax and call home base for the week, and all the amenities you would want. It felt upscale, authentic Costa Rican home. I was actually stunned the whole time with the beauty of the property and surroundings. The beach was almost deserted, sunsets beautiful, and the pool was wonderful. I was so impressed with the wildlife we were able to see right from the property…. A gang of monkeys visited us (probably about 20) and got very close. Their is what seems to be a resident iguana who seems to have made the outside property his (or hers) home and a couple of times we saw a beautiful McCaw eating almonds out of the almond tree. José was there to let us in and we felt safer knowing he was onsite as the caretaker, but still made sure to give us our privacy. Thank you, Mary for sharing your beautiful home and piece of paradise with us for the week! We certainly hope to return in the future!

The back pool and patio is beautiful, with the absolutely breathtaking backdrop of Manual Antonio National Park. It was a jungle oasis. The pool was a comfortable temperature for the kids to want to stay in and play all day, and the seat inside the pool was perfect for relaxing. It was clean and well taken care of. The balcony that sat just above the pool area, outside our living space, was large, clean and had spaces for dining and lounging, with the beautiful view as well. At night the balcony roof had plenty of little gecko friends to eat any insects (not that there were any noticable), and even a tree frog too. Everyday around 4-5 o'clock we would hear the trees moving and little squirrel monkeys would come and play and jump around in the trees just behind the pool. We also saw red and green parrots, among other birds, and could hear the howler monkeys in the distance. We saw more animals at Villa Leonardo than we did on our hikes in the park! It was really a magical experience.

Mamaluma was such a relaxing place with absolutely incredible views. Bird sitings were numerous and we heard far more than we were able to see. The wildlife was also both surprising and stunning, from the green and black poison dart frog to the capuchins and coati. We even caught a rare siting of a great curassaw!! This is truly a piece of paradise and would come back in a heartbeat! Malene, Martin and Eduin were very responsive; and we thank you for the great suggestions in a very well detailed welcome package!!

This was our second time at this Airbnb, this time we brought our kids! It was so wonderful!! If you want a peaceful vacation, this is the place to go! With those beautiful views and the horses coming up the fence to say hello everyday, my heart was so happy!! This is a place where you need to spend your time outsides the inside furniture is not super comfortable but it does its job. The water got cold quickly, which was the only downside we had the whole trip. Otherwise, we plan to come back again in the future. I already miss the place so much! My kids loved it too! The hosts also helped me find a baker for my daughter’s birthday cake which was so nice of them!! They responded so fast via email which I appreciated!

I don’t think there are enough words to describe how magical our stay was. Our family said it was the best vacation that they have ever had. Vicente was amazing and really became part of our family, we cried when leaving. Looking to,book again next year.

Val and Oscar were great hosts. Very responsive and gave great recommendations for things to do in the area. They helped us book excursions throughout the week and checked in on us periodically. The home was just as seen in the photos. We had a lovely time.

Our family had the most wonderful time at Casa Palmas. Every expectation was met and exceeded. The beach was literally steps out your door. We loved the location and convenience of Casa Palmas. Surfing right outside your back door and only blocks down the street is a grocery store and many options to eat. We enjoyed the beach in the mornings and beautiful sunsets in the evening. The pool was especially nice during the hot afternoons where there was shade from the well maintained garden. The home was clean and welcoming with comfy beds for a peaceful nights rest. Casa Palmas has everything and then more! Nick’s communication was quick and so kind. I could go on and on about Casa Palmas but you really have to see it for yourself! Thank you, Nick for such a memorable stay and we hope to be back again!

We loved our stay at Villa Kasha! It feels like you are immersed in the jungle, yet is still convenient to get to town. We were able to get an uber from Puerto Viejo right to the property. We rented bikes for the week from Ciclo Cocles which is about a 15 minute walk from Villa Kasha. The road is bumpy but we still managed on bikes fine and felt we didn’t need a car to explore the area. We spent a lot of time on the deck just listening to/watching for all the animals. We were pleasantly surprised that there weren't mosquitos around when we were there. We only used the air conditioning one night and it was sufficient to cool the bedroom. For the other 6 nights the ceiling fan was enough. Henry was also kind and responsive and helped to make our stay great! We’ll definitely be recommending this place to our friends!
