This is not often the kind of place to stay on Airbnb. A more than 130-year-old log cabin in the cultural heritage landscape of Suvanto takes its residents on a time journey to a 19th-century Ostrobothnian village. The destination is best suited for lovers of Lapland's nature, history and silence, who are not afraid of the dark in winter or mosquitoes in summer. Please note: there is no public transportation to the village, no toilet in the main building, nor a shower. There is a separate sauna building outside and a traditional outhouse behind the sauna.

Maaninkavaara idyllic schoolmarket

Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of an old and idyllic school in its spacious upstairs apartment (k, oh, 2mh, sauna/WC/shower, 2 vestibules). The beautiful surroundings offer great opportunities for outdoor activities - the ski trail for dangers starts from the yard, the adjacent lake allows for ice fishing, in summer you can hike and berry picking nearby, the rowboat is waiting for you at the school's shore. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking. The apartment and courtyard are well suited for families with children.

Kitkalake cottage with sauna

Tämä vanhasta riihestä rakennettu tunnelmallinen hirsimökki sijaitsee kirkasvetisen Kitkajärven rannalla. Kitkajärveä kutsutaankin Euroopan suurimmaksi lähteeksi. Kohde kutsuu nauttimaan kokkailusta luonnon helmassa, suppailemaan järvellä ja nauttimaan rantasaunan hempeistä löylyistä. Käytössäsi on soutuvene ja SUP-lauta. Marjapaikat löytyvät ihan mökin vierestä. Mökissä ei ole sähköjä eikä juoksevaa vettä. Aurinkopaneelien avulla lataat kännykät kätevästi kesällä. Mökki on puulämmitteinen.

The unique chalet solo chalet with posh carpets sits atop Posio Kirintövaara, in the middle of a bushland forest, at the end of a quiet road. The all-around, well-lit ski-in ski-out is 100m away. Also a ski resort at the same risk. For those who like to cook, you'll find great kitchen equipment and postage dishes by Pentkki and Potnova. The upper loft can sleep 4 and bedroom 2 + 2 children. We also have a travel crib. A “opening” of your own, whenever the ground water allows.

Pretty and cosy wooden cottage with sauna in peaceful environment. The cottage is located 31km from Rovaniemi city centre. Because of the location outside all the city lights, this is a perfect location to see the northern lights. The best chances to see the the northern lights is during a clear sky without clouds. There are also different forecasts that you can guugle to estimate the possibility of seeing northern ligts. There is a monument of silence built near by.

Atmospheric house on the banks of the Kemijoki River

Scenic beaches by the Kemi River, about an hour drive from Rovaniemi, 65km to Kuusamo. Once upon a time, I recommend renting a car. 75 m2 cottage with all amenities, two bedrooms, kitchen-living room, sauna, bathroom, porch and terrace. Near the cottage there is a beach (about 700 m). Opportunities for snowmobiling, fishing, berry picking, hunting and hiking. There's a boat landing place about a mile up the road.
