True gem in Vinales. Beautiful decor and space to chill. You don’t want to leave just hang out there. Lovely staff. Great breakfast.

Gladys was a very kind and responsive host. She was keen to help us with any activities we wanted to do. She was also able to wash our clothes and provide breakfast for additional charge. Her dog has a good temperament. Note that there is cold water only, and the power in Viñales was off for most of our stay. It usually came on for some hours in the middle of the night. There is no WiFi but you can get a tourist sim which mostly works and bring a power bank for charge.

Elenita is the best in Boca in Camarioca. We went back to her place for the end of our trip and everything was perfect! With Elenita, you won't miss anything. She cares that her guests are satisfied and comfortable. She took great care of us and even guided us in our choices in order to have the most beautiful trip possible. Our stay was really good at her place. The accommodation is impeccably clean and very intimate and safe. Its meals are really delicious and you have all the amenities of the village nearby. This place is 100 times better than Varadero. And if you want to go to Varadero, Elenita will arrange transportation for you at great prices. She takes care of everything as if we were family. When we return to Boca de Camarioca, we will go to her home and nowhere else. Thank you for your generosity, your dedication, and your great heart, Elenita. We love you. Sylvia and Érick.

I came to this area to dive and that was my only reason. So on that note , staying in Matanzas would have been the most sensible given what I know now. Thankfully, the property is just outside what I will refer to as the tourist economics zone. Euro / USD or credit card at the government rate of exchange but just over the bridge local prices in local currency and in line with what I have experienced elsewhere. For this reason my stay with this family was perfect. King size bed , loads of storage good bathroom, easy access to the beach and local restaurants that charge in local currency. Would advise to take breakfast there as I didn’t find anything that came close for the price and quality of the breakfast. The wifi was the only problem and useable from the common area downstairs which was inconvenient. At the time of writing , I was only allowed to buy 3 x 1hr cards from the offical outlet … again something not experienced elsewhere. For a shirt beach break - perfecto.

The place is great, quiet and close to the coral beach (the first one is paid 15 dollars, but there is a free beach a few hundred meters away). There's a lot of fish and corals in the sea, but it's a good idea to bring your shoes for swimming. There's a little-known lagoon nearby, which is worth a walk to and see the birds in the morning. The Mercedes apartment is equipped with a kitchen where you can prepare your own meals or use the breakfast or dinners prepared by Mercedes. There are mosquito nets in the windows and doors. The apartment is very clean. If I ever go back to Cuba, I will definitely go to Mercedes again. Mercedes speaks excellent English, which is not often seen in Cuba.
