Dedicated workspace

A room with wifi that’s well-suited for working.
Your 140sqft cabin is hand-built for slow mornings, muddy paws, and cozy nights. With a plush bed, faux fireplace, seasonal outdoor shower, and high quality waterless toilet, it’s rustic comfort at its best. Light cooking inside or camp fire-side, sip coffee under the pines, and let your pup roam. We’re not just dog-friendly—we’re dog-obsessed. With Wi-Fi, trails at your door, and starry skies above, this is a woodland retreat for wild hearts and their four-legged sidekicks.

The space
Your tiny cabin is all about keeping things simple and soulful. It’s a warm little nook tucked beneath the pines with just enough comforts to make you feel looked after without losing the magic of being away from it all.

The cabin grounds are rustic and raw, just the way we like it—nature left mostly to her own devices. That means the terrain is uneven in places, with roots, rocks, and the occasional squishy patch in spring or snowdrift in winter. Please take care when moving around, especially after dark.

And speaking of spring and winter: boots are a must. Real boots. Not the “I got these once for brunch” kind. You’ll want something that can handle mud, snow, and whatever else the season decides to throw your way. Trust me, your socks will thank you!

Adventure at Your Doorstep: Whether you're chasing silence or the best butter tart in the county, you're in for a treat!
• Lace up your boots and follow the K&P or Trans Canada Trails, just steps from the cabin.
• Paddle through still waters, cast a line, or let the call of the loon be your morning meditation.
• Wander into nearby villages where you'll find cozy cafés, friendly farmers’ markets, and local restaurants that serve up hearty, homegrown fare.
• Meet artisans who craft with their hands and hearts; potters, woodworkers, and maple syrup makers tucked down quiet country roads.
• Explore provincial parks, quirky roadside stops, and Ontario’s famed Dark Sky Viewing Area for a stargazing experience that’ll hush even the rowdiest soul.

You’ll find all this (and a few of our best-kept secrets) in The Adventure Guide for the Grove guidebook, your trail-tested companion to local adventures, good eats, and eco-minded ways to make the most of your stay.

Bringing a Four-Legged Friend?
You're in good company. Around here, dogs aren’t just welcome, they’re part of the story. And they have their own WanderPaws Guidebook for pet friendly adventures and businesses!

Your pup will have free rein of your private slice of the Grove, with full access to the cabin, your forested lot, and trails that twist and turn right from your doorstep. Off-leash is fine on the property as long as your trail buddy stays within sight and returns on voice command. Respectful recall is key, we’re all about keeping things peaceful for the local wildlife, other visitors, and neighbours who call this place home.

Speaking of neighbours: we’re part of a quiet, close-knit community tucked deep in the woods. Please clean up after your pup (nobody wants to meet a raccoon that’s followed a scent trail) and tread kindly around nearby properties and lakeside docks.

You’ll also find our Wanderpaws: A Dog’s Guide to the Grove. It’s packed with local tips, tricks, and trails, from shaded forest paths to splash-worthy creeks, and even leash-optional routes if your pup’s recall is solid and you’ve got the trail to yourself.

Whether it’s a quick loop before dinner or an all-day ramble, there’s something nearby for every breed, pace, and personality. Just pack some fresh water, those biodegradable bags, and a pocketful of treats, because let’s be honest, they’ve earned ‘em.

And a quick health note: this is true-blue woodland. Please make sure your pack bug spray and your dog is up to date on flea and tick prevention.

Guest access
You’ll have the run of your own private slice of the Grove, full access to the cabin, your forested lot, and the scenic trails that meander right from your doorstep. We’re part of a small, peaceful community tucked deep in the woods, so we just ask that you tread kindly, especially around neighbours’ spaces and their quiet lakeside docks.

Inside the Cabin:
• A queen bed with soft linens and dual-density pillows, perfect for sinking into after a day of adventuring.
• A faux fireplace for that cozy glow, plus blackout shades for slow, unhurried mornings.
• Extra guest in tow? There’s space outside for a tent, because starry nights are better shared. Please confirm with us in advance so we can ready the site.

Simple Cabin Cooking:
• A tidy kitchenette stocked with the essentials including a Keurig, mini fridge, hot plate, toaster, crock pot, cast iron and TFAL cookware.
• Prefer to cook outside? Fire pit grill, picnic table, picnic basket, and a camp stove await under the stars.
• In warmer seasons, we’ve got running water. In winter, we bring the charm: potable water is provided in Mason Jugs, and dishes? Optional. Try out the Snowcap Supper Shanty—a 6’x6’ lantern-lit dining nook made just for magical winter meals.

Nature Meets Comfort:
• Just steps away, your private half-bath bunkie includes a ThinkTank waterless toilet and sink.
• And from spring through fall, you can rinse off under the sky with the heated outdoor shower—truly the best way to end a trail day.

Stay Connected (or Don’t):
• Whether you’re escaping the noise or need to sneak in a Zoom call, we’ve got you covered.
Starlink Wi-Fi with a signal extender means strong, steady connection throughout the site—fast enough for streaming, video calls, uploading fireside photos, or keeping that CPAP machine humming.
• There’s also a small library and chest of games inside if you’d rather unplug and go analog.

As for your host (yep, that’s me) I live onsite, just far enough away to give you the space to fully unplug, but close enough to lend a hand if you need anything. Whether it's more batteries, trail tips, or just a friendly wave, I’ve got you.

Other things to note
Important Notes:
• The final stretch is a 10-minute dirt road—beautiful, bumpy, and a little wild. Go slow, especially after dark, and let the trees ease you into Grove time.
• Winter stays? We’ll have the cabin warmed up and waiting for you. Nothing like stepping into a toasty little retreat after a snowy drive.
• Laundry Help Available! We know adventures can get messy—in the best kind of way. If you’re staying a while or just need a quick wash mid-trip, we’ve got you covered. For a small fee, simply use the laundry basket provided and we’ll return your clothes fresh and folded—like a good neighbour would.

Grove Gear Checklist (aka: What You’ll Be Glad You Packed).

We’re all about slow, simple living out here—but a little preparation goes a long way when you’re living close to the land. Here’s what we recommend bringing to make your stay extra smooth:
• Real Boots – Not brunch boots. We’re talking waterproof, ankle-supporting, mud-loving boots. Especially important in spring and winter when things get slick, slushy, or squishy.
• Layers – Evenings cool off fast in the woods. Pack a warm sweater, a rain shell, and something you don’t mind getting campfire-scented.
• Extra Socks – Because nobody likes cold, wet feet.
• Bug Spray – This is Canada, and the mosquitoes and deer flies occasionally throw little reunions in June and July. Come prepared and you’ll be fine.
• Headlamp or Flashlight – The stars are stunning because we’ve got real dark nights. Bring your own light to safely navigate the property after sunset.
• Fire-Starting Gear – We’ve got you covered for your first campfire with kindling and wood ready to go. If you need more, there are plenty of friendly roadside vendors nearby selling local wood. We do ask that you skip bringing firewood from outside Central Frontenac—helps protect the biodiversity of these woods we love so much. Please pay attention to all local Fire Bans.
• Camp Chairs (optional) – We’ve got outdoor seating at the firepit and picnic table, but a couple of low camp chairs can be nice if you want to wander with your coffee or find your own quiet mossy spot.
• Charged Devices – We’ve got Starlink Wi-Fi and outlets. It’s always smart to stay charged up, especially if you're navigating by GPS.
• Books, Journals, Canvases – Out here, time stretches a little. It’s the perfect place to finally crack open that book, scribble a few thoughts by firelight, or just sit still with your own company. Feeling creative? We’ve got a plein air painting easel you’re welcome to use. Just bring your own supplies, pick a woodland nook that speaks to you, and let the forest do the rest.
• Dog Gear & Goodies - We’ve got the basics on hand just in case: an extra leash and waste bags for off-property adventures, a water bowl, and towels for drying off muddy paws. Whether it’s a quick loop before dinner or an all-day ramble, there’s something nearby for every breed, pace, and personality. Just pack some fresh water, those biodegradable bags, and a pocketful of treats, because let’s be honest, they’ve earned ‘em. Remember to obey local leash laws and make sure your dog is up to date on flea and tick prevention before you visit.

I spend too much time: Anything outdoors!
Most useless skill: Can ID any classic car from rusted frame
Traded traffic lights for stars. Built this tiny cabin by hand—sawdust in my beard, coffee on the fire—because I wanted something slower. Something real. I’m a lifelong outdoorsman, part-time wood whisperer, and full-time fan of classic cars, campfires, and quiet mornings. When I’m not working the land, I’m chasing old roads or new stories. I live just up the trail if you need a hand or a good yarn. Welcome to the woods. Hope you stay a while.
