‘La Maison du temps’ is a singular place, felt more than described. This three-storey work of habitable art moves every guest who crosses its threshold.
Created by the artist Barco around the tale of a great Québécois poet, it invites you to slow down, lose track of the hours and reconnect with what matters, in the heart of Lanaudière’s wilderness.
The space
Media launch on June 6, 2026 — La Maison du temps reveals itself progressively.
‘La Maison du temps’ is a habitable work of art born of nearly four years of creation. It is the third sculptural dwelling by the artist behind the Moulin aux rêves, which has been delighting young and old for several years. This singular place invites you on a journey to reconnect with friends or family.
It all begins with a tale. A poet entrusts the artist Barco with an unpublished legend, woven around the sea, dreams and the absence of limits. To shelter this voice, Barco builds a vessel : three storeys of reclaimed wood and forged metal, near the Crique-à-David in Sainte-Émélie-de-l’Énergie.
Then the work takes an unexpected turn. More than 60 years of calendars, gathered by an anonymous collector who marked Québec’s passing time, line the walls and ceilings. Landmarks collapse : you no longer know which month you inhabit, which decade crosses the walls. The space becomes a galaxy of paper and memory. It is the poet himself who names the house : La Maison du temps.
Across three floors, every bedroom is its own world : the Sailor’s room and its boat-bed, a room honouring the Lennon and Ono Bed-In with its period hotel chandelier, and a dark, organic room with bio-mechanical accents. At the summit, a sound sculpture whispers the tale. Grant yourself the chance to reconnect with those dear to you, with nature, and with yourself.
We deliberately share only a few photos : the mystery of the place is preserved, so you can discover it for yourself. Fellow travelers’ reviews will give you a foretaste of the experience awaiting you.
