Other things to note
Location and Setting:
Our Airbnb features small outdoor buildings on a working hobby farm, nestled in a peaceful country neighborhood just off a main highway. While this makes it easily accessible, you will hear some traffic noise during peak times. The yard is open-concept, and our main house is also on-site, where my family lives. You’ll have the outdoor backyard space to yourself, as there are no other guests on the property.
Expected Temperatures:
During spring, fall, and winter, the weather can get quite chilly. We recommend dressing warmly and bringing slippers for comfort. The cabin is not airtight or insulated, but it’s equipped with an electric wall heater, a wood stove, and extra blankets for the loft bed. However, if temperatures drop below 8°C (46°F), the cabin may feel cool. In warmer weather, a fan is provided in the loft, but please note there is no air conditioning. We do switch from electric heat to wood heat during the winter as the electric heater is not sufficient enough to heat the place when it gets below zero.
Winter Camping Notes:
• The outdoor shower is closed for the season with no alternative available. Reopening in May 2026. This is to prevent frozen water lines, ice on the floor and damage to the water heater and pump.
• Complimentary firewood is provided for the wood stove and fire pit. Extra wood can be found in the shelter next to the barbecue or by the fire pit.
• Extra blankets are stored in the pine box in the loft.
• The hot tub runs all winter. Please replace the extra thermal covers after use. The deck has an electric heated floor mat for comfort and safety.
• A coffee maker, kettle, and tea beverages are provided for your use.
• The cabin is equipped with anti-freezing protections for the drinking water system inside as well as a heated front eavestrough to prevent ice dams under the front door.
• A salt, sand, and shovel station outside the front door is available when it snows. We also do snow removal service from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
• The outhouse has a 250-watt heat lamp on a 10-minute motion-activated timer.
• During times of heavy snowfall, the fire pit may become temporarily inaccessible or closed. The trails have no winter maintenance.
Nature and Wildlife:
Our property borders over 100 acres of wild forest, so you may encounter insects or wildlife during your stay. While we do our best to keep bugs at bay, it’s impossible to guarantee their complete absence. We provide a bug zapper, bug spray, and a fly swatter to help make your stay more comfortable.
Limited Amenities:
Our space is designed for simplicity and relaxation. This is a camping trip. There is no microwave, no television, no sink, no laundry. In the colder months there is no outdoor shower available due to freezing temperatures. There is no alternative available and we have no control over the cold weather.
Breakfast Options:
To start your day, we provide coffee, tea, coffee whitener, sugar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Feel free to bring anything else you’d like to add to your meals!
Sleeping Loft:
The sleeping loft is cozy, measuring 5 feet wide by 12 feet long, with a low ceiling of about 3 feet. It’s accessible by a 6-foot ladder with handle support bars mounted on the wall and comfortably sleeps two adults on a twin size bed.
Toilet and Water:
The toilet is a well-maintained pit outhouse, which may have a slight odor depending on usage and weather conditions. The shower house has pressurized running hot water, but in freezing temperatures, the water may temporarily stop flowing and in winter conditions the shower house will be closed. Drinking water is provided from a dispenser inside the cabin which has it's own anti-freezing system.
Check-in & Check-out Times:
Check-in time is anytime after 4:00 p.m. on the day of arrival. All guests and vehicles must vacate the property by 12:00 p.m. EST on the day of check-out. If you’d like to request a different check-in or check-out time, please message us through the Airbnb app in advance. Please note that such requests are subject to our availability and may incur additional fees.
Overstay Policy:
If you remain on the property past the agreed checkout time without prior consent, the short-term rental contract is terminated, and you will no longer have the right to stay on the premises. In such cases, we reserve the right to enforce your departure under the Province of Ontario’s Trespass to Property Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. T.21.
Damages or Additional Fees:
If property damage, theft, additional cleaning, or other fees (e.g., unapproved guests or pets) occur, you authorize Airbnb to charge your payment card via the Airbnb Resolution Centre. Security camera footage and time-stamped photos may be used as evidence to support any claims.
Simple Checkout Process:
We strive to make your stay as stress-free as possible. Unlike some Airbnb's, we don’t require you to do dishes, take out trash, remove linens, or clean the space. All we ask is that you return the key and leave on time. Lost keys will incur a $15 replacement fee.
