Relax on your expansive private patio, take in the soothing pastoral views and retreat from the world. Flooded with light, we've outfitted The Hideout with a mix of new and vintage furniture, local Island art, and chic cottage goods. The space
The Cottage at The Hideout is a self-contained, spacious one-bedroom unit. Your private, secluded patio overlooks rolling country hills, pastoral landscapes, and a wide open sky. The Cottage comes with a fully stocked kitchen (Refrigerator/Freezer + 4 burner induction cooktop + Breville Countertop Smart Oven), a spacious living area decorated with local and vintage artwork, an extensive library of books and an eclectic collection of vinyl, a comfortable workstation, and a daybed that can be used for an additional guest. The bedroom faces west to some of the most gorgeous sunsets on the Island. Wake up to organic coffee, our own special granola, and a curated selection of Island treats. Starlink wireless internet. Beach bag and picnic baskets. Bikes and bocci available with advanced notice.

Accessibility:

One of the things we love about the property is the accessibility options it offers for guests. The house was built with wheelchair access in mind so the cottage has low, wide ramps, extra-wide doors and is barrier free, with no steps. The cottage bathroom has a wide door and space to turn, though currently no grab bars by the toilet. There are grab bars in the bath/shower.

The Hideout is designed for those who value tranquility, quiet, and privacy, but who desire to be close to all the riches the Island has to offer. Set on several acres at the end of a private country road, The Hideout nestles up against the protected Lord's Pond/Tryon River watershed and a stand of mixed woodland. We're visited daily by blue jays, goldfinches, cardinals, chipmunks, and occasionally--early in the morning--by the foxy red fox. That means you'll wake up to the sound of the birds, take your coffee on the dock at the edge of the lake, and enjoy the privacy and solitude of our vibrant gardens and yard. Bike down to the beach, kayak the river, or simply get lost strolling the many trails and country roads.

Both The Cottage and the Tryon Suite offer you the utmost privacy and all the amenities of home. We stock strong local coffee and all sorts of little surprises from Island artists and local foodie destinations. It's a place for savvy travellers seeking a rustic chic getaway, a functional workspace, and laid back Island vibes.
