Welcome to Hibiscus Garden Retreat.
A cozy cabin-style tiny home tucked into the upper garden of our property among tall trees in a quiet residential neighborhood. Peaceful, private, and nature-filled, with occasional residential sounds.
This thoughtfully designed tiny home includes a kitchenette (not a full kitchen), compact bathroom, and eco-friendly water system.
Access is via a short uphill gravel path (approx. 250 ft).
Minutes to transit & SkyTrain, with Mount Baker views on clear days.
The space
The tiny home is a newly built structure, thoughtfully designed and made from 100% Western Red Cedar, and was originally used as a design studio.
It sits at the back of our property and is 225 sq ft in size, best suited for one guest. While compact, the high ceilings and numerous windows create a bright, airy feel, with a rustic cabin aesthetic and a feature wall of reclaimed 100-year-old barn wood.
Access requires a short uphill walk (approx. 250 ft) from the main house along a gravel path.
The space is part of a shared property with our home, a rescue dog in training, and occasional local wildlife such as birds, raccoons, and (rarely) bears.
Please note that this is a forested property surrounded by mature Douglas fir trees. Depending on the season and weather, you may see naturally fallen needles, cones, and leaves despite regular outdoor maintenance.
Guest access
Access to the tiny home requires walking approximately 250 ft uphill on a gravel path from the main house. The tiny home sits on a small hill overlooking the property and may not be suitable for guests with mobility concerns or heavy luggage.
The property is shared with the host, family, and a rescue dog in training. We kindly ask guests to respect the privacy of shared outdoor areas and not approach the dog.
You’ll have a small private outdoor area beside the tiny home with a bistro table, chairs, lounge chair, and a portable BBQ.
A shared upper yard space includes a fire pit (seasonal—please ask in advance; not available during fire restriction periods). Wood can be provided when permitted.
This space is best suited for one guest. Additional guests must be pre-approved prior to booking, at a additional cost per night.
Other things to note
The studio operates on a septic tank system; therefore, only *grey water products* (provided) are permitted.
Please do not use your own cleaning supplies and especially not bleach while staying.
This is a compact open space with no separate bedroom, however separate bathroom exists.
