Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
A bright and beautiful 3-bedroom loft retreat, perched atop a modern, converted barn. The open-concept living area extends to an outdoor porch, offering scenic views of the vineyard, the Northumberland Strait, and stunning PEI sunsets. Soaring 20-foot ceilings with skylights fill the space with natural light.

Close to beaches, golf courses, parks and trails. Just 35 minutes to Charlottetown, 20 minutes to Montague, 10 minutes to the Wood Islands Ferry, and steps to the Pinette River.

The space
Arcadia Loft is located on a 22-acre hobby farm near the Pinette River in Belfast, PEI. During your vacation, feel free to enjoy the use of our canoe and kayak. Life jackets are provided. Free firewood is also available for bonfires.

The word "arcadia" refers to a vision of pastoralism and harmony with nature, an idyllic vision of unspoiled nature. The term is derived from the Greek province of the same name.

Arcadia Loft is close to Point Prim Lighthouse, PEI's oldest lighthouse. For excellent local food fare, we recommend The Chowder House, Bar Vela (pizza), Treena's Take-out (seafood) and Country Taste Bakery. Try their cinnamon rolls!

Guest access
Guests enjoy the entire loft apartment with their own private entrance.

Other things to note
Arcadia Farm was once the home of acclaimed British-Canadian artist, filmmaker, and writer Erica Rutherford.

In 1985, Erica and her family purchased this property and made Prince Edward Island their permanent home. Two years later, she established an art studio and artist retreat here, welcoming creative minds from around the world.

Today, Rutherford is celebrated as one of Canada's most significant and visionary artists. Her work has received remarkable national and international recognition in recent years. In 2024, five of her paintings were featured in the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, making her the first artist from Prince Edward Island to be included in the prestigious exhibition.

In 2025, the National Gallery of Canada presented Erica Rutherford: Her Lives and Works, the first solo exhibition by a Prince Edward Island artist ever mounted at the Gallery. The retrospective brought together more than 100 works spanning six decades and coincided with the National Gallery's acquisition of several of Rutherford's works for its permanent collection.

Visitors to Arcadia Farm are staying in a place that was once at the heart of Rutherford's creative life, where she painted, wrote, and helped shape Prince Edward Island's vibrant artistic community.
