Unbeatable location

100% of guests in the past year gave this location a 5-star rating.
Alone on a forested cliff above a pristine barrier beach and a stunning ocean view, this cozy cottage is just off the Cabot Trail in Northern Cape Breton. The cottage offers stunning ocean and beach views; while tucked into the woods, hidden from view itself. Clean wood interior and gorgeous art complete it. A private retreat close to Park hiking trails. Free kayak rentals for week long rentals. Enjoy privacy and solitude where the mountains meet the sea.

The space
This is the perfect little getaway for two, it's a small 600 sq ft cottage, with lovely wood paneling and big windows. It has a great little kitchen, and a fantastic deck to sit out and take in the view. The Cottage is located close to a provincial park, a barrier beach, Sugarloaf Mountain hiking trail, and the fishing village of Bay St Lawrence. The cottage is clean and cozy, and simple. The real perks are the privacy, the view and location; it sits on 10 acres of birch and spruce, with a small brook on one side. The ocean views looks down the cliffs of Cape North to one side and out across all of Aspy Bay to White Point and the South Mountain range of the National Park. The sea rolls, fishing boats pass by, gannets soar and dive. Seals pop up. The cottage over looks a cliff edge though, with a 20 metre drop onto the barrier beach and some rocks, so it is not suited for children or pets (or overly wine soaked artists); the location requires sensible behaviour. Good wifi. Ocean view firepit with bench. Free kayak rentals for weekly and monthly stays available nearby. Beach access 1km down the road at cabots landing provincial park.

Other things to note
We offer a local's know guide to the area, with information on the best beaches, hiking trails, restaurants, whale watching and more (yes there is excellent whale watching close by).
This is a northern area, so we suggest stocking up on wine and cheese ahead of time, there are excellent stores close by, but they may not have a full selection of some items.

Neighbourhood highlights

Behind you to the north rises Sugarloaf Mountain, while north east the road continues to Bay St Lawrence and Meat Cove. The Hut Takeout and Oshan Whale Tours are worth the visit. As you turn east and then south the panorama lifts you along the north mountain range to Money Point and Cape North, where the North Atlantic Sea takes over, a blip of St Paul Island and an endless stretch of water across Aspy Bay to the village of White Point at the base of the South Mountain. Heading west now your view skims the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and the start of the Barrier Beach begins at South Harbour. The beach stretches towards you, 3 miles long, passing the towns of Cape North and Dingwall where you will find several restaurants, our kayak shop, 2 museums and some shops.
